    Transmission Line Instructor
    W2 Hourly Contract
    Pay Rate: $30/hr-$34/hr
    Location: Phillipsburg NJ
    Length: 16 months
    We are seeking an experienced Transmission Line Instructor to deliver classroom and field training for apprentice, journeyman, and experienced line workers. This role is responsible for developing technical skills, safety knowledge, and work practices related to the construction, maintenance, and operation of transmission and distribution systems.
     
    Key Responsibilities

    • Deliver classroom, field, and hands-on training related to transmission and distribution operations.
    • Instruct employees on electrical theory, safety regulations, OSHA, NESC, NFPA 70E requirements, and company procedures.
    • Demonstrate climbing, rigging, hot-stick work practices, conductor installation, equipment operation, and line construction techniques.
    • Evaluate trainee performance through written tests, skills assessments, and field observations.
    • Develop and maintain training materials, lesson plans, and trainee records.
    • Mentor and coach employees to support professional growth and safe work practices.
    • Collaborate with leadership and fellow instructors to ensure consistent training programs.
    • Participate in field observations, safety initiatives, workforce development projects, and storm restoration efforts as needed.
    Required Qualifications
    • High school diploma or equivalent.
    • 4 to 7 years of journey-level lineworker experience, including at least 4 years in transmission line operations.
    • Strong knowledge of transmission and distribution systems, construction standards, and utility safety practices.
    • Experience climbing poles, operating bucket trucks, and working at heights.
    • Knowledge of OSHA, NESC, and NFPA 70E standards.
    • Strong communication, presentation, and leadership skills.
    • Valid Class A CDL or ability to obtain.
    • Ability to obtain required crane operator, rigging awareness, and signal person certifications.
    • In-depth knowledge of transmission hot-stick work practices.
    Preferred Qualifications
    • Previous training, mentoring, or crew leadership experience.
    • Adult learning or instructional certifications.
    • Experience with URD systems, gloving practices, and distribution troubleshooting.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and training software.
    Working Conditions
    • Combination of classroom, training yard, and field environments.
    • Frequent standing, walking, climbing, and outdoor work.
    • Up to 50% travel to training and field locations.
    • Participation in emergency response and storm restoration activities as needed.
