Description

Transmission Line Engineer

We are seeking a Transmission Engineer to support a growing Transmission & Distribution team. This role will work closely with utility clients and internal engineering teams to support the design, analysis, and installation of overhead electric transmission lines. The ideal candidate will utilize industry-standard engineering software to develop detailed design packages, construction documents, and technical solutions for transmission projects. REMOTE opportunity within Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Ohio.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design overhead transmission lines using PLS-CADD.
  • Develop and review transmission line design drawings, specifications, calculations, and construction documents.
  • Coordinate with utility clients, contractors, and project stakeholders to ensure successful project execution.
  • Maintain strong client relationships through clear communication, responsiveness, and technical excellence.
  • Ensure designs comply with applicable industry standards, regulations, and best practices.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to achieve project objectives related to scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Support the preparation of project reports, compliance documentation, and engineering records.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and designers.
  • Participate in project meetings, design reviews, and field visits as required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET-accredited engineering program.
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification preferred.
  • Minimum of 4 years of transmission line design experience within the electric utility industry.
  • Experience with transmission structure and foundation design.
  • Working knowledge of applicable industry codes and standards, including: NESC, ASCE, IEEE, ACI
  • Proficiency with industry software, including: PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, AutoCAD, Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong understanding of engineering principles and ability to solve complex technical challenges.
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment and manage multiple project priorities.
  • Willingness to travel periodically for site visits, client meetings, and project-related activities, including occasional overnight travel.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain licensure.
  • Experience supporting transmission projects ranging from 69kV to 500kV.
  • Familiarity with utility standards and transmission asset management practices.
  • Experience performing line ratings, sag-tension analysis, and structure loading calculations.

  • This is a REMOTE opportunity within Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Ohio.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Tampa, FL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $36.06 - $52.88/hr.
