Transmission Assistant Project Manager Location: Field Project Locations (Ely, NV to Twin Falls, ID corridor / Western US)

About Us Wilson Construction Company is a premier utility contractor specializing in complex, high-voltage electrical transmission and distribution line projects across the United States. We are seeking a self-motivated, team-oriented Transmission Assistant Project Manager to join our field operations team. This is an exciting, hands-on entry-level field position designed for motivated individuals looking to launch a long-term career in utility infrastructure project management.

Role Overview Reporting directly to the On-site Project Manager or Project Superintendent, the Assistant Project Manager spends the majority of their time at project field offices throughout the Western United States. Project assignments range from several weeks to multi-year infrastructure developments. In this role, you will provide critical technical, administrative, and logistical coordination to ensure transmission line projects are executed safely, on schedule, and within budget.

Key Responsibilities

Project Scheduling & Look-Aheads: Assist Project Managers and Schedulers with overall project administration; construct and update 3-day and 5-day look-ahead schedules. Field Engineering & Technical Documentation: Prepare and track Requests for Information (RFIs), submittals, transmittals, and daily project progress reports. Materials & Supply Chain Management: Coordinate material deliveries, track inventory on-site, reconcile material invoices, and interface with vendors. Right-of-Way & Equipment Tracking: Log and monitor daily equipment, vehicle movements, and crew activities across the transmission right-of-way (ROW). Cross-Functional Operations Support: Maintain operational tracking spreadsheets, deliver critical field paperwork, and support field engineering and safety departments as required.

Qualifications & Requirements

Education & Background: Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Project Management, Civil/Electrical Engineering, or equivalent practical field experience. Software & Technical Proficiency: Advanced proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook); exposure to scheduling tools such as MS Project or Primavera P6 is highly desirable. Organization & Multi-Tasking: Strong analytical and organizational capabilities with the ability to prioritize tasks, follow up on deliverables, and adapt to shifting field conditions. Communication & Teamwork: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with the capability to interface effectively with field crews, project executives, and utility clients. Licensing & Travel Readiness: Must possess a valid driver's license and be fully prepared to travel and reside on-site at project field offices across the Western U.S. for extended durations.
