Overview

Under the supervision of the Safety Manager, the Training Specialist is responsible for conducting high quality training programs in accordance with the guidelines outlined by Transdev.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure new trainee Bus Operators are thoroughly trained in the safe and efficient handling of vehicles and equipment to exceed customer standards.

  • Responsible for the direct supervision of trainees including documentation and disciplinary proceedings.

  • Responsible for creating and updating all training materials

  • Develops and implements training and certification programs, procedures and commercial drivers' license.

  • Performs return-to-work, post-accident and refresher trainings.

  • Assists employees in converting CDL permits to CDL's through road pre-information on the operation of buses.

  • Performs trail checks and completes Operator Evaluations for Bus Operators

  • Other duties relative to Safety and Training as assigned.

  • Review accidents/incident reports and perform subsequent reporting.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

  • Must have a valid NC Class \"B\" CDL with a \"P\" endorsement

  • NC Third Party Examiner Certification preferred.

  • Smith Systems Defensive Driving or National Safety Council Course on Defensive Driving, passenger assistance techniques, passenger sensitivity, basic troubleshooting, and emergency and accident procedures.

  • Thorough knowledge of transit operation principles and techniques

  • Ability to supervise and evaluate subordinate employees objectively

  • Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing

  • Must have excellent documentation and presentation skills

  • Ability to effectively communicate instructions and directions is essential

  • Motivational and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work patiently under pressure imperative

  • Ability to work as a team member required

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to sit for prolonged periods of time and operate office equipment

  • Required to stand; walk; use hands to manipulate, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear

Work Environment:

  • Exposure to moving mechanical parts

  • Occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions

  • Occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles

  • Moderate noise levels

Supervisory Controls:

  • Reports to the Safety/Training Manager

Supervisory and Management Responsibility:

  • None
