General Responsibility

Collaborate with the SLED AFIS unit to identify issues/deficiencies and other errors with Livescan submissions from agencies across the state. Develop training to provide to agencies utilizing a Livescan system to correct errors. Ensure all agencies are collecting information according to SLED and FBI standards. Provide training on proper collection of fingerprints and/or palms and mugshots.

Specific Duties

  • Review errors within AFIS to identify training needs at Livescan locations.
  • Conduct training and audits at agencies and detention centers to ensure fingerprints, palm prints, mugshots, and arrest information is entered and submitted properly and in a timely manner.
  • Stay apprised of system modifications and ensure agencies and detention centers re aware of any updates.
  • Remain knowledgeable of SLED and FBI procedures for submission of fingerprints, palm prints, mugshots, and arrest information.
  • Report any concerns or issues from agencies and detention centers regarding the entry and submission of fingerprints, palm prints, mugshots, and arrest information to the AFIS supervisor.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in a related field or relevant work experience
  • Must have knowledge and experience with the Automated Fingerprint Identification System (AFIS)
  • Must possess strong interpersonal and effective communication skills to facilitate training of agencies possessing a Livescan machine
  • Must be able to train users of proper use, error detection, and how to resolve errors using the AFIS/Livescan processes
  • Position requires statewide travel, including overnight travel

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Livescan and fingerprints collection is preferred
