    Join First Team Staffing as a Trailer Systems Technician & Fabrication Welder

    Picture your day in Hermitage, TN: you clock in, review a work order for a brake issue on a dry van, run diagnostics, pull wheels, inspect linings and hardware, and button it back up to spec. Next, you’re laying clean welds on a cracked crossmember, fabricating a small patch panel, and verifying electrical continuity on marker lights—then taking a quick quality check to ensure everything meets safety standards. That’s the rhythm here: hands-on problem solving, quality craftsmanship, and pride in keeping trailers road-ready.

    Schedule & Hours

    • Full-time; approximately 40 hours per week
    • 8-hour shifts offered: 07:00am–03:30pm or 2:30pm–11:00pm

    What You’ll Do

    • Inspect, diagnose, and repair trailers and related equipment and systems.
    • Service and repair brake, suspension, electrical, and structural components.
    • Conduct brake repairs and safety inspections to company and regulatory standards.
    • Use diagnostic tools to pinpoint mechanical issues and verify corrective actions.
    • Perform body and structural repairs on trailer frames and panels.
    • Weld and solder for repair and fabrication needs; perform metal fabrication as required.
    • Confirm completed work meets safety and quality benchmarks before release.
    • Operate forklifts safely and efficiently to move equipment and materials.
    • Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work area; follow all safety procedures.

    Physical Demands

    • Perform physically intensive mechanical and repair tasks throughout the shift.
    • Stand, bend, reach, lift, and move continuously during an 8-hour shift.
    • Work safely around heavy equipment and trailers; safely operate a forklift.
    • Safely perform all essential functions of the position.

    Qualifications

    • Background in automotive, trailer, or general mechanical repair.
    • Hands-on experience with trailer brake repair and inspections.
    • Experience with trailer body repair and structural work.
    • Familiarity with tractor–trailers and their major components.
    • Mechanical troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
    • Experience with welding and soldering techniques.
    • Knowledge of mechanical systems and common repair procedures.
    • Detail orientation and a commitment to quality workmanship.
    • Trailer mechanic experience: 1 year preferred.
    • Mechanical knowledge: 1 year preferred.
    • English proficiency preferred.

    Requirements

    • Previous mechanic or automotive repair experience preferred.
    • Knowledge of trailer components and mechanical systems.
    • Ability to perform brake inspections and repairs.
    • Welding and soldering experience preferred.
    • Candidates must submit a current resume for customer review prior to interview scheduling.
    • Must be able to safely perform all essential job functions.
