Position Description

The Town of Marana is seeking a Traffic Signal Technician II to work in the Public Works Department. This is a full-time position and an exciting opportunity for someone interested in the application of technology to improve traffic operations and traffic safety within the Town of Marana.

Expected Hiring Range: $23.42/hour - $28.69/hour

• Placement within the expected hiring range is dependent on direct experience, internal equity and/or budget.

Salary Range:$23.42/hour - $33.96/hour

Examples of Duties

• Performs maintenance, repairs and upgrades of traffic signals, street/parking lot lights, and associated equipment/supplies; sets up lane closure for operating machinery; removes and replaces defective equipment; and observes/reviewing traffic operations.
• Provides electrical/communication installation, maintenance and connectivity between traffic signals and other related devices/equipment; programs controllers, detection systems and pre-emption equipment.
• Maintains data, work orders, daily logs, and records of traffic signals operations.
• Provide and request Blue Stake.
• Installs new poles, cabinets, and pull boxes.

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalency plus six months of additional education or training.
• Over three (3) years of experience in a related field.
• Valid Arizona driver license.
• Must complete both the Town of Marana background check and a motor vehicle records check.

An equivalent combination of education and relevant experience that provides the desired knowledge, skills & abilities to successfully perform essential functions may be considered.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Must complete a pre-employment physical including and pass a 50-pound lift test.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• IMSA Traffic Signal Tech Level II or obtain within 12 months of hire.
• Three or more years of experience in traffic signal construction and maintenance.
