Salary starts at $17.17 an hour, no experience required. Salary increases to $19.50 upon successful completion of the training program.

JOB SUMMARY

The purpose of this position is to provide clerical and customer service support for the operations of the court. Success in this position contributes to the efficiency and effectiveness of those operations. The work consists of related clerical and customer service duties.

MAJOR DUTIES

  • Processes arrest reports, citations, sworn complaints, and criminal appeals; creates and maintains case files.
  • Prioritizes workload to meet deadlines.
  • Responds to email and phone inquiries from customers, judges’ staff, law enforcement and attorneys and assists with case information, etc.
  • Verifies and processes electronic citations, flagging mandatory court items.
  • Relates civil traffic cases to criminal cases and transmits related documentation.
  • Clears license suspensions and processes walk through warrants.
  • Prepares dockets, attends court hearings, and processes court proceedings.
  • Reviews and processes documents through the Florida Courts online database; indexes records and scans/imports images into the case management system.
  • Routes proposed orders to judges and processes signed orders.
  • Maintains confidential files and processes inmate correspondence.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY CONTROLS

The Supervisor assigns work in terms of general instructions. The supervisor spot-checks completed work for compliance with procedures, accuracy, and the nature and propriety of the final results.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • The work is typically performed while sitting at a desk or table or while intermittently sitting, standing, or stooping. The employee frequently lifts light and occasionally heavy objects.
  • The work is performed in an office.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma or GED, supplemented by one (1) year of recent and relevant experience.
  • Ability to read, write and perform mathematical calculations at a level commonly associated with the completion of a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to meet the public and effectively address their need in a courteous, tactful, and professional manner. Possess the ability to cope with customers in impromptu situations.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form and possess the ability to follow complex oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with co-workers, other governmental agencies, attorneys, judges and their assistants, businesses, and members of the general public.
  • Ability to use a computer terminal to enter data quickly and accurately.
  • Knowledge of a wide range of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records, transcription, designing forms, and other office procedures, office equipment, and terminology.
