Team Overview:
Do you have interest in having direct engagement in the capital markets while supporting the needs of 9 million individual investors? If so, this may be the ideal opportunity for you.
The Municipal Trading Department within Edward Jones is primarily responsible for providing our Financial Advisors with a broad supply of highly diversified and fairly priced municipal bonds. These bonds help fulfill the unique needs of our clients. Our goal is to identify and analyze opportunities in the marketplace while consistently achieving best execution and evolving our trading capabilities to improve outcomes.
As a Trader II, you will play a critical role at the intersection of execution, analytics, and strategy, helping the desk evolve toward more data-driven and technology-enabled trading practices. You will be expected to not only execute trades and manage inventory, but also optimize execution outcomes, contribute to trading strategy development, and enhance systematic trading capabilities across the desk.
What you will do:
Ensure inventories align with firm research and portfolio guidance, leveraging new issues, bid wanteds, secondary purchases, and external offerings to identify capital commitment opportunities and manage corresponding positions
Execute trades across municipal markets while optimizing execution across multiple channels (dealer, electronic, internal flows)
Apply capital markets analytics, market data, and relative value analysis to inform trading decisions, identify opportunities, and improve execution outcomes
Enhance systematic and electronic trading strategies and execution models, improving efficiency, consistency, and scalability of trading outcomes
Leverage internal and external data sources to develop and expand desk analytics
Utilize trading systems and analytical tools to support data-driven insights and workflow improvements, and identify opportunities to enhance trading processes
Partner with internal teams to improve tools, advance analytics capabilities, and drive continuous process improvement across the desk
Manage risk through disciplined evaluation of inventory exposure, liquidity conditions, and market dynamics
Deliver client service excellence for all branch-related inquiries, providing market insights and supporting advisors with timely and accurate execution
Provide training and guidance to other traders, contributing to the development of team capabilities in areas such as pricing, analytics, execution strategy, and inventory management
Build and maintain strong internal and external relationships, including dealer networks, to enhance market access and execution outcomes
