Neptune Pacific is undergoing an exciting phase of transformation and growth. Established in 2020 through the acquisition of Pacific Direct Line, the business brought together two of the South Pacific's leading shipping and logistics providers to deliver fully integrated supply chain solutions across the region.

Today, Neptune Pacific continues to strengthen its network and capabilities across the Pacific and beyond. The company is part of The Wonderful Company, headquartered in Los Angeles, California. The Wonderful Company's portfolio includes globally recognised brands such as FIJI Water, JUSTIN Vineyards & Winery, Landmark Vineyards, Wonderful Citrus, Wonderful Pistachios, Teleflora, POM Wonderful and Suterra.

We're looking for an experienced and commercially minded Trade Manager to join our team and play a key role in managing pricing, trade performance and customer relationships across our ocean freight network.

As Trade Manager, you'll take ownership of regional pricing for Neptune Pacific's services, including tariffs, ancillary charges, special rates and freight rate requests. You'll also manage a P&L budget, ensuring pricing decisions support both customer needs and business objectives.

Based in our Sausalito, CA office, you'll work closely with colleagues across Commercial, Sales, Operations and regional teams, while building relationships with customers, suppliers and industry partners across the network.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • Analyze market trends, trade lanes, customer requirements and competitor pricing to identify commercial opportunities.
  • Develop and recommend pricing strategies that maximize profitability and support growth.
  • Analyze service, trade sector and customer performance, including volume, revenue and contribution.
  • Manage accurate and competitive ocean freight quotations and pricing exceptions.
  • Negotiate freight rates and commercial terms with carriers and customers.
  • Monitor pricing performance and identify opportunities to improve margins and efficiency.
  • Maintain tariffs, rate databases, contracts and accessorial pricing, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Conduct freight manifest and pricing audits and provide guidance on regulatory and industry requirements.
  • Partner closely with the Commercial and Sales teams, providing market intelligence and pricing support.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers, suppliers, carriers and internal stakeholders.
  • Manage customer enquiries, pricing issues, disputes, contracts and follow-up activities.
  • Use CargoWise and CRM reporting to track quote activity, success rates and commercial performance.
  • Coordinate vessel schedule information and ensure accurate and timely communication across the business.
  • Contribute to projects and other commercial initiatives as required.

This role may involve collaboration across multiple locations and occasional additional hours to meet business requirements.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys working at the intersection of commercial strategy, data analysis, ocean freight and customer relationships. You'll use market intelligence and commercial insights to develop competitive pricing strategies, maximize profitability and identify opportunities for growth.

We're looking for someone who combines commercial acumen with strong analytical and relationship management skills.

You'll ideally have:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Supply Chain or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years' experience in freight forwarding, logistics, supply chain, ocean freight or a related commercial environment.
  • Strong experience in data analysis, pricing and cost analysis.
  • Advanced or intermediate-to-advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Experience working with complex datasets and ERP systems.
  • Strong negotiation, problem-solving and commercial decision-making skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • An understanding of ocean freight markets, trade lanes, pricing and industry regulations.
  • The ability to manage multiple priorities independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • A proactive, adaptable approach and the confidence to work with a diverse range of stakeholders.

Pay Range: $90,000 to $100,000 and may include a discretionary bonus. Final compensation amount will be dependent on skills and experience.

Our Neptune Pacific Contribution:

  • Competitive benefits package (salary plus bonus)
  • Opportunity for development and internal mobility
  • Wonderful Giving - allowing you to donate company money to a cause of your choice.
  • Wonderful Neighbor - spend a day in the community helping with various service projects.
  • Company focused on wellness and health.

This is more than a pricing role. You'll have the opportunity to influence commercial strategy, work with market intelligence and directly contribute to the performance and growth of Neptune Pacific's US export trade business. Apply now!
