    About the Role:

    Seeking a Trade Compliance Specialist to join the team on a 6-month contract basis. This role can be performed remotely or on-site, with the potential to convert to a full-time position for local or candidates willing to relocate. This is a hands-on position requiring immediate contribution to core trade compliance operations, with the scope of responsibilities expanding if the engagement extends while a permanent replacement is identified.

     

    Key Responsibilities:

    Core Priorities:

    • Work closely with and respond to questions from sales, production, procurement, and logistics teams regarding import and export trade compliance matters
    • Review documentation to ensure import/export entry elements are declared properly and duties and taxes are accurately assessed
    • Ensure adherence to customs and export control regulations, import/export licensing requirements, and applicable Free Trade Agreements (FTAs)
    • Ensure accurate tariff codes, dual-use classifications, ECCN, and origin classifications for fabricated and purchased parts, including proper record keeping
    • Ensure customs brokers have the necessary data, instructions, and documentation to comply with import/export regulations and FTAs
    • Assist with applications for import/export licenses, binding tariff codes, and dual-use classifications, including maintaining logs

    Additional Responsibilities (relevant if engagement extends):

    • Perform Post Entry Reviews of import/export declaration accuracy; submit corrections to customs brokers and report significant findings to Managing Directors
    • Capture, monitor, and report import/export KPIs for management review
    • Review and follow up on orders/shipments blocked during Sanctioned Party Screening in SAP-GTS
    • Maintain import/export logs
    • Track local regulatory changes and assess risks/opportunities for products, processes, and procedures; escalate to global trade compliance and impacted departments
    • Review and update work instructions to ensure ongoing regulatory compliance
    • Identify, collect, and analyze root causes of import delays and compliance gaps; drive process improvements through structured problem-solving
    • Ensure proper archiving and record retention of import/export documentation per local requirements

     

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Experience with SAP ECC
    • Experience with SAP-GTS (Sanctioned Party Screening)
    • Strong working knowledge of customs regulations, export controls, and trade compliance processes
