Job Description
Position Summary
Responsible for developing and maintaining FIR Elettromeccanica's (FIR) trade compliance program to ensure compliance with U.S. and international import and export regulations. Acts as the primary trade compliance lead for the FIR business, partnering across functions to support operations and manage regulatory risk. Reports directly to the NAHC/NCJ Americas Corporate Trade Compliance Governance team ("NAHC/NCJ Americas TC Governance Team") to support enterprise risk management, controls, and audit readiness.
Key Responsibilities
Serve as the day-to-day primary point of contact for operational trade compliance matters at FIR, advising leadership, compliance, and business stakeholders.
Partner with FIR business teams (procurement, logistics, finance, customer service, engineering, etc.) to identify, assess and resolve import/export compliance risk.
Develop and maintain FIR trade compliance policies, procedures, internal controls, audits, and training programs.
Partner with the NAHC/NCJ Americas TC Governance Team to align FIR compliance activities with corporate policies, risk frameworks, and internal control requirements.
Escalate significant compliance risks, audit findings, and potential regulatory exposure for FIR to the NAHC/NCJ Americas TC Governance Team and support remediation efforts.
Oversee and perform FIR's product classification (HTS, ECCN, Schedule B) and country‑of‑origin determinations.
Establish and communicate approved customs valuation methodologies to FIR teams and the NAHC/NCJ Americas TC Governance Team.
Support the corporate Free Trade Agreement team's qualification and annual campaign efforts via auditing FIR for accurate documentation and coordinating with internal business teams for delivery of required documentation.
Conduct internal audits of FIR's import/export transactions, broker activity, and recordkeeping; assess control effectiveness.
Manage FIR's denied party screening processes, including system administration, monitoring, training, and issue escalation.
Monitor regulatory changes (tariffs, forced labor, trade agreements), communicate business impact and identify risk mitigation actions to FIR business leaders and cross functional teams.
Manage and review FIR's customs broker performance and resolve escalated issues by FIRs business operations.
Coordinate responses to government inquiries, audits, and investigations (e.g., CBP, BIS), including CF28/CF29 responses for FIR.
Ensure FIR's compliance with record retention U.S. legal requirements.
Delivery of targeted trade compliance training to applicable employees.
Support supply chain security initiatives (e.g., CTPAT), as applicable.
Required Skills & Experience
5+ years of experience in trade compliance, customs, operations, logistics compliance or a related field.
Working knowledge of U.S. import/export regulations, including HTS, ECCN, valuation, country of origin, FTAs, AD/CVD, Section 301, and denied party screening.
Experience executing trade compliance programs, audits, and broker oversight.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess risk and provide practical guidance.
Proven ability to work cross‑functionally in a matrixed environment.
Experience with audits, enforcement actions, and government inquiries.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Experience with trade compliance systems and data analysis tools (e.g., ACE, SAP/GTS, e2open, Descartes, Integration Point, Excel).
U.S. residency required.
