    Description

    HIGH-LEVEL OVERVIEW

    The Trade Compliance Director leads the business division’s import & export compliance program by implementing strategies that provide direction and regulatory guidance, ensuring compliance with the company’s policies, procedures, and U.S. and international export and import law.

    This position is based in Upstate NY, with remote options possible for the right candidate, and requires 25-35% travel.

     

    EXPECTATIONS

    · Develop trade policy and strategy, providing regulatory guidance to all global locations
    · Oversee trade compliance programs, driving continuous improvement for efficiency and accuracy
    · Drive global alignment for HTS classification, country of origin, and ECCN determinations
    · Provide guidance on denied party screening, sanctions, and export licenses
    · Manage customs brokers to ensure consistent compliance standards
    · Perform internal audits to ensure compliance programs are effective and robust
    · Drive duty savings through duty reduction programs- FTA, FTZ, Duty drawback, etc
    · Communicate complex trade related issues across all levels of internal and external partners
    · Cultivate a high performing team through accountability, strategic direction, coaching, and mentorship

    ESSENTIALS

    · Bachelor's degree required
    · 10+ years of trade compliance experience, industrial dual-use controls preferred
    · Expert knowledge of import compliance programs and regulations (HTS, COO, valuation, FTA, etc.)
    · In depth understanding of export control regulations EAR, ITAR, DPS, EEI
    · Strategic thinker with ability to anticipate, assess, and mitigate risk
    · Strong people leadership experience
    · LEAN, Six Sigma, and project management skills a plus
    · Must be eligible to access export-controlled technology under U.S. government access controls
