    Job Description Summary:

    The Trade Analyst advises on export control classification and related issues for the Firm’s Trade and National Security practice and is a member of the Firm’s Corporate-Regulatory practice group.  The position is based in our Washington, D.C. office.

    Job Description:

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    • Perform export control classification analyses and prepare and pursue classification requests; prepare self-classification memoranda.
    • Assist with comprehensive export, sanctions, and customs audits in connection with government investigations, internal reviews, and other processes.
    • Under the supervision of attorneys, assist with interactions with U.S. government agencies and representation of clients in U.S. government trade proceedings.
    • Conduct trade compliance diligence, respond to diligence questions and assist with diligence review in Corporate transactions.
    • Assist with a range of trade-focused client matters upon request.
    • Contribute to business development and marketing efforts as requested.
    • Perform other related duties and assignments, as assigned.

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

    • Extensive knowledge of U.S. trade policy and relevant laws, regulations, international agreements, government agencies, export sanctions, export compliance, and other trade related issues.
    • Ability to analyze complex technical issues promptly and interact with client technical teams to assess export classifications.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Strong attention to detail, and organizational and time-management skills; ability to reliably complete projects on time, and to manage multiple priorities under deadline pressure.
    • Ability to develop, utilize and manage complex data sets and tools.
    • Ability to travel as needed.

    Experience

    • Strong academic background; bachelor’s degree is required, and additional advanced degree is preferred.
    • Proficiency in MS Office.
    • The ideal candidate will have 10+ years of directly relevant experience in a government role or broad-based international trade practice.

    A discretionary bonus for eligible employees may also be available based on performance.  Additional information about employee eligibility for benefits and discretionary bonus will be made available upon request.
