Every tour show starts the same way: an empty room, a load in door, and a group of local volunteers who have never done this before. By the time doors open, that room is running, the merchandise table is stocked, the line is moving, and every volunteer knows exactly where to be. That is your job.

Funny How (A faith based comedy tour)  is hiring a part time Tour Operations Assistant to travel with our team two weekends a month.  Dates listed below.  We bring live comedy and encouragement to audiences across the United States. All travel is covered. The work is physical and the nights are long, but you finish each one knowing you helped a room full of people laugh, think, and leave better than they came.

REMAINING TRIPS THIS SEASON

6 trips remain. Every trip typically departs in the morning and returns in the morning. THIS IS A TENTATIVE SCHEDULE.  

Trip 1: Depart Saturday, September 12th. Return Monday, September 14th
Trip 2: Depart Friday, September 18th. Return Monday, September 21th.
Trip 3: Depart Friday, October 9th. Return Monday, October 12th
Trip 4: Depart Saturday, October 24th. Return Monday, October 26th
Trip 5: Depart Friday, November 6th.  Return Monday, November 9th
Trip 6: Depart Friday, November 13th. Return Saturday, November 14th

Availability for all six remaining trips is a requirement of this role, not a preference. Please check every date against your calendar before you apply. The tour resumes February through May 2027, with those dates released later.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

Train and lead the local volunteer team on site, assign positions, and run them through the event with clear direction. Most volunteers arrive the day of the show and have never worked an event like this before. You set the tone for their experience.

You will be trained on a specific are by the Event Logistics Coordinator and selected to a specific tour focus.  Some examples are manage entry flow with ushers and greeters, guiding a team to scan tickets at entry, manage the merchandise area with volunteers, train and run the sales tables. 

Another focus of this job is to Assist the Tour Event Coordinator with load and unload at the airport in Dallas to the venue for setup, run of show, and load out.

You are often the first person a guest meets and the last one they see.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Comfortable standing in front of a group of volunteers you met an hour earlier and giving them clear direction.

Steady when plans change. Doors open late, a shipment arrives short, a line backs up. You solve it without losing composure.

Careful with money and inventory. Cash handling, counts, and end of night reconciliation are part of the job.

Comfortable with a point of sale system and a mobile device.

Aligned with the mission. You are glad to be part of an event built around faith and encouragement.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Movement and carrying are essential to this role. You will be on your feet for long stretches, working late nights and early call times, and lifting equipment and merchandise that is sometimes over 30 to 40 pounds.

HELPFUL BACKGROUND

Live events, touring, box office, retail, hospitality, church production, or volunteer coordination.

POSITION TERMS

Classification: Independent contractor, 1099
Schedule: Part time, tour dates only
Compensation: per event per day, paid by invoice
Travel: Transportation, lodging, and travel days covered by the company
Term: Current tour season, with the option to renew
