We are working with a leading Aerospace Manufacturing client with multiple openings in the Everett, WA area.
Tool Maker - 1st Shift
Summary Description: Fabricates the tooling required for the manufacture of production sheet metal details, component assemblies, and both conventional and N.C. machined parts.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- In conjunction with Manufacturing Engineering determines the design of the tool type required for the applicable production manufacturing operation.
- Determines the materials required to manufacture the tool and requests that the material is ordered.
- Working from tool design drawings, a customer production drawing, full-size Mylar part layouts or customer tool specifications, computes dimensions, plans sequence of tool manufacturing operations and determines tool assembly method.
- Sets up and operates machine tools such as lathes, milling machine, band saw, shaper, and grinder to produce tool components which conform to the applicable tool drawings or tool specifications.
- Assembles tooling components, verifies critical dimensions, alignments, and clearances.
- Wherever practical before handing the tool to inspection, tests the tool to prove that it will function correctly during production usage.
- Examines standard or previously used dies, tools, jigs and fixtures, and recommends design modifications regarding construction and function of the production part or tool.
- Reworks rejected previously used tooling to acceptable standards, prior to returning the tools for production usage.
- Works with Programming to develop the design of specialty tools and helps produce tool drawings.
- Meets established standards for productivity and quality. Confers with supervisor when problems arise which impact expected level of performance.
- Responsible for supporting and ensuring compliance to ISO 9001/AS9100 Quality Management Systems.
- Must contribute to a positive work environment.
- Performs any task required to support customer requirements and company goals
Abilities:
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
- Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Must have experience in the manufacture of tooling for one or more of the following part types:
- Machined parts
- Sheet metal flat patterns, brake & hydro formed parts
- Drop hammer parts
- Stretch form sheet metal & machined parts
- Sub-assembly & major assembly jig component manufacture & set up
- Must be able to sit or stand for at least 10 hours a day.
- The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms.
- The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
