Job Details
Essential Functions:
- Ensure all company and customer owned tooling is properly managed & perform qualification measures of the equipment prior to production.
- Develop sample sand molding processes to validate castings achieve customer specifications.
- Repair wood patterns & ensure flasks are sized for No-Bake & Floor molding processes.
- Manage the outsourced pattern shops to ensure the parting line of castings, amount of draft to be allowed, metal shrinkage, & determine the riser and gating system configurations.
- Review and provide input on product and tool design changes to meet customer blueprints for manufacturability and cost effectiveness.
- Responsible for the routine maintenance and changes to existing sand tooling. Maintain tooling to optimize efficiency, ensure dimensional accuracy and coordinate necessary modifications as required.
- Review all manufacturing processes to ensure that daily production achieves quoted parameters, including scrap & re-work rates.
- Maintain active tooling database with details regarding production issues, maintenance performed, amount of scrap output, and general pattern conditions
- Understand properties & solidification of aluminum and brass, as well as various molding methods.
- Quotes, analyzes and manages any cost reductions and improvements in current production and continuous improvement projects
