Product Specialist


Position Summary

The Product Specialist is responsible for providing advanced, technology-driven tooling solutions for complex customer manufacturing applications. This role serves as a key technical resource supporting customers, distributors, representatives, and internal sales teams by delivering application expertise, troubleshooting support, tooling recommendations, and custom solution development.

The position works closely with international technical engineering teams and internal cross-functional departments to support product implementation, customer success, and overall sales growth.


Key Responsibilities

Technical Application Support

  • Analyze customer manufacturing requirements including machining processes, machine capabilities, materials, tolerances, and production limitations.
  • Recommend optimized tooling and application solutions for drilling, milling, tapping, and related machining operations.
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance for customers, sales teams, distributors, and representatives.
  • Assist with tool testing, application development, and process improvement initiatives at customer locations.
  • Advise customers on new products, tooling technologies, and existing product capabilities.
  • Support strategic customer applications and participate in technical presentations and demonstrations.


Product & Technical Expertise

  • Develop and maintain a high level of technical knowledge related to cutting tools, machining technology, carbide tooling, metallurgy, and manufacturing processes.
  • Study and understand newly developed products and tooling technologies as they are introduced.
  • Coordinate technical updates, product information, and application feedback with international engineering and manufacturing teams.
  • Interface with engineering and R&D teams to resolve technical issues and support product development initiatives.


Quotations & Project Support

  • Prepare quotations for custom and standard tooling solutions while meeting RFQ response timelines.
  • Support quotation processes across multiple company locations and business units.
  • Maintain accurate documentation related to quotations, tooling recommendations, machining parameters, application history, and technical requests.
  • Utilize CRM, ERP, and related systems to document customer activity, technical support cases, and project information.


Collaboration & Cross-Functional Support

  • Work closely with sales, engineering, production, supply chain, quality, customer service, and manufacturing teams to support customer needs and project execution.
  • Support Regional Sales Managers during customer visits and technical evaluations.
  • Contribute to team development by sharing technical knowledge, best practices, and application expertise.
  • Provide office-based technical support and assistance as required.
  • Participate in occasional international travel to manufacturing and technical facilities.


Qualifications & Experience

  • Experience in cutting tool technology and machining applications required.
  • Strong technical knowledge of:
  • Metallurgy, metal alloys, and carbide tooling
  • Drilling, milling, tapping, and related machining processes
  • Manufacturing applications and tooling performance optimization
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and develop tooling concepts or recommendations.
  • College or technical education with emphasis in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing, or related discipline preferred.
  • Experience with ERP, CRM, SAP, or similar business systems preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong technical writing, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Additional language capabilities are a plus.
