Tooling Engineer

BlueWave is hiring a Tooling Engineer for an aerospace organization based in Long Beach, California. As a Tooling Engineer, you will own engineering projects through design, analysis, fabrication, testing, and first-use support. This role combines desk-based engineering with hands-on collaboration in a manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Own tooling and equipment projects through the full engineering lifecycle.
• Develop requirements, concepts, and detailed designs.
• Perform structural analysis and participate in design reviews.
• Prepare, review, and release engineering drawings and documentation.
• Plan and support fabrication, testing, and initial equipment use.
• Train and collaborate with technicians during manufacturing and implementation.
• Provide hands-on shop-floor support to resolve design and manufacturing challenges.
• Prioritize operator safety throughout design and implementation.

Requirements

• Experience performing structural analysis using Ansys, FEMAP, Nastran, or a comparable analysis package.
• Hands-on manufacturing or shop-floor experience, including working directly with technicians.
• Experience independently owning engineering work and taking responsibility for deliverables.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings and address design, analysis, and manufacturing considerations.
• Ability to work effectively with limited training and oversight.
• Flexibility to provide additional onsite or phone support during critical project periods.
• Tooling, equipment, or heavy-equipment design experience preferred.
• NX and Teamcenter experience preferred; CATIA, SolidWorks, or another major CAD platform is also acceptable.
• Aerospace experience is not required.

Employment Type: Contract-to-Hire, onsite in Long Beach, California.
