Insight Global is seeking an experienced Tooling Design Engineer to support a leading aerospace manufacturing organization in Lansing, MI. This role is responsible for the design, development, and continuous improvement of tooling, gauges, fixtures, and production aids that support both new and existing manufacturing processes. The ideal candidate will bring extensive tooling design experience, strong CAD and PLM expertise, and the ability to collaborate with manufacturing, engineering, and production teams to develop innovative tooling solutions that improve quality, safety, and efficiency.

Job Responsibilities

  • Design and develop production tooling, fixtures, gauges, jigs, and tooling aids for aerospace manufacturing operations.
  • Create and maintain detailed 3D models, drawings, and engineering documentation using CAD software.
  • Utilize PLM systems to manage tooling designs, revisions, releases, and documentation.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, and engineering teams to support production needs and resolve tooling-related issues.
  • Evaluate existing tooling and recommend design improvements to enhance efficiency, ergonomics, and manufacturability.
  • Ensure tooling designs comply with engineering specifications, GD&T requirements, and quality standards.
  • Support tooling implementation, validation, and troubleshooting on the manufacturing floor.
  • Participate in continuous improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives to optimize production processes.

Qualifications

Required Skills & Experience

  •  Bachelor's degree in STEM program 
  •  10+ years of tooling design experience 
  •  10+ years of experience using 3D modeling CAD software 
  •  10+ years of experience using PLM software 
  •  Strong understanding of critical DG&T critical concepts 
  •  Strong analytical skills using appropriate
