Now hiring for a Tool Room Machinist

Location: Minneapolis, MN

Pay Rate: $28.00 - $36.00 per hour

Schedule:

  • 1st Shift: Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM-3:30 PM
  • 2nd Shift: Monday-Friday, 3:30 PM-12:00 AM
  • Overtime may be required during the week and/or Saturdays

Education Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Technical school, machining certificate, or CNC programming education preferred.
  • CNC / Machine Tool Technology (or equivalent) degree or certificate (Preferred)

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year of CNC lathe machining experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and drawings
  • Experience using precision measuring instruments
  • Ability to hold tolerances to .001
  • CNC programming and Wire EDM experience preferred
  • Basic computer skills required

Job Duties

  • Set up and operate CNC lathes and tool room equipment
  • Manufacture, repair, and maintain tooling components
  • Read blueprints, routers, and work instructions
  • Perform precision measurements and quality inspections
  • Maintain tight tolerances and quality standards
  • Follow safety procedures and documented processes

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience with CNC mills, lathes, machining centers, or multi-axis equipment is preferred.
  • Experience editing CNC programs, setting tooling offsets, and performing machine setups is beneficial.
  • Familiarity with G-code, CAD/CAM software, Haas, Mazak, Okuma, Fanuc, or similar CNC controls is considered an asset.
  • Individuals who demonstrate strong troubleshooting abilities, continuous learning, and commitment to precision manufacturing are well positioned for success as a Tool Room Machinist.

Physical Capabilities

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and work around machining equipment throughout the shift.
  • Ability to lift materials, tooling, and components weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Manual dexterity to safely operate CNC machinery and precision measuring equipment.
  • Ability to work safely around moving machinery while following established safety procedures.
  • Ability to lift pounds.

What You Will Do

As a Tool Room Machinist you will set up, operate, monitor, and adjust CNC machining equipment to manufacture precision components according to engineering specifications. You will verify machine setups, inspect finished parts using precision measuring instruments, troubleshoot machining issues, maintain tooling, and support quality and production goals while following established safety and manufacturing procedures.

Make and repair complex washer tooling using CNC lathes and other tool room equipment. This may also include grinders, mills, drill presses, and wire EDM equipment. Follow documented procedures and standards. Other duties as assigned.

A Tool Room Machinist produces precision parts through the operation of advanced CNC machining equipment. This role requires technical knowledge, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to maintain accuracy throughout every stage of the machining process.

The Tool Room Machinist combines blueprint interpretation, machine setup, tooling knowledge, and precision inspection techniques to manufacture quality components. Successful candidates understand the importance of consistency, safety, and attention to detail.
