Description

Johnson Service Group is looking for a contract Aircraft Tool Designer to work in Arlington, TX location.

Tool Designer job typically involves designing and creating fixtures and tooling to meet quality, cost, and schedule objectives. 
This may include designing shelters and mechanical modifications, reviewing customer requirements, and supporting the engineering design team. 
The designer also works with various departments to resolve issues and contribute to product improvement. 

Need Catia V5 proficiency and Smarteam PLM a plus. Tooling for composite parts; lamination molds, drill jigs, trim fixtures, CNC machining fixtures,
and assembly

Design and Development:
Develop, design, and/or create fixtures, tooling, and related equipment. 
Review and Analysis:
Review customer requirements, specifications, and interface drawings to ensure contract compliance. 
CAD Modeling:
Utilize 3D CAD software to create and maintain models and associated 2D drawings. 
Documentation:
Prepare and update task lists, and create project documentation and production-required assets. 
Collaboration:
Interface with other departments, including sales, engineering, and vendors, to resolve issues and questions. 
Problem Solving:
Identify and resolve vendor issues and defective material dispositions. 
Continuous Improvement:
Contribute to product improvement, new product development, and product standardization. 
Technical Expertise:
Apply knowledge of relevant standards, codes, and regulations to the design process. 
Skills and Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor's or higher degree in a relevant engineering field, or an associate degree with experience. 
Technical Skills:
Proficient in 3D CAD software and experience generating manufacturing prints. 
Communication Skills:
Strong interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively with various teams. 
Problem-Solving Skills:
Ability to analyze and resolve design issues and challenges. 
Experience:
Prior experience in a related field, such as mechanical design or tooling engineering, is often preferred.
