The Assistant Site Leader is a key leadership position responsible for helping create an exceptional experience for both our guests and our team members. Working closely with the Site Leader, the Assistant Site Leader helps lead the day-to-day operation of the wash, develops and motivates team members, drives membership growth, and ensures the site consistently meets Tommy's Express standards for service, cleanliness, safety, and wash quality.
The Assistant Site Leader should be a visible, hands-on leader who enjoys working with people, building a strong team, solving problems, and creating an environment where guests want to return and team members want to succeed. When the Site Leader is not present, the Assistant Site Leader is expected to confidently lead the site and take ownership of the operation.
• Serve as a leader and positive example for all team members.
• Act as the manager on duty and lead the site when the Site Leader is unavailable.
• Help create a positive, energetic, accountable, and team-oriented culture.
• Coach team members on guest interaction, membership sales, operational procedures, and Tommy's Express standards.
• Provide regular feedback, recognition, and coaching to help team members improve and grow.
• Assist with recruiting, interviewing, hiring, onboarding, and training new team members.
• Help identify high-potential employees and develop future leaders within the organization.
• Assist with employee scheduling and ensure the site is appropriately staffed based on business needs.
• Hold team members accountable for performance, attendance, appearance, safety, and customer-service expectations.
• Communicate clearly and consistently with the Site Leader and team regarding goals, expectations, challenges, and opportunities.
• Create a welcoming, friendly, and professional environment for every guest.
• Lead by example by actively engaging with guests throughout the site.
• Ensure team members consistently deliver fast, friendly, and knowledgeable service.
• Build relationships with members and regular guests and help create a strong sense of community around the wash.
• Resolve guest concerns quickly and professionally, with the goal of turning problems into positive experiences.
• Monitor the overall guest experience from arrival through departure and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Ensure the property, pay lanes, vacuum area, tunnel, and guest-facing areas are clean, organized, and operating at a high standard.
• Maintain excellent wash quality and take immediate action when a guest's vehicle does not meet our expectations.
• Help drive Unlimited Membership growth and retention.
• Coach team members on how to confidently explain the value of Tommy's Express memberships without creating a high-pressure guest experience.
• Set the example for effective membership conversations and guest engagement.
• Monitor sales performance and work with the Site Leader to identify opportunities for improvement.
• Help establish daily, weekly, and monthly membership goals and keep the team focused on achieving them.
• Recognize and celebrate strong individual and team sales performance.
• Help reduce membership cancellations by ensuring members consistently receive an excellent experience.
• Support fleet membership opportunities and help develop relationships with local businesses and organizations.
• Assist the Site Leader with all aspects of daily site operations.
• Ensure proper opening and closing procedures are completed.
• Maintain Tommy's Express operational and brand standards throughout the property.
• Monitor tunnel operations and wash quality throughout each shift.
• Ensure team members are properly positioned and productive based on traffic and business needs.
• Help manage labor efficiently while maintaining appropriate staffing and guest-service levels.
• Assist with inventory management, chemical usage, supplies, and other operating needs.
• Complete required operational reports, checklists, and administrative responsibilities accurately and on time.
• Identify operational issues and communicate solutions and follow-up needs to the Site Leader.
• Develop a working knowledge of Tommy's Express wash equipment and systems.
• Complete and/or assist with routine preventative maintenance.
• Identify equipment issues early and communicate problems appropriately.
• Assist with basic troubleshooting, repairs, and adjustments when trained and qualified to do so.
• Coordinate with the Site Leader, maintenance personnel, or vendors when more significant repairs are required.
• Help minimize downtime and ensure equipment is operating safely and effectively.
• Maintain a safe environment for guests and team members at all times.
• Ensure employees consistently follow Tommy's Express safety procedures and operating standards.
• Identify and immediately address potential safety hazards.
• Ensure the entire property is clean, organized, professional, and ready for guests.
• Help maintain compliance with company policies and applicable local, state, and federal requirements.
• Have previous leadership, supervisory, retail, hospitality, restaurant, sales, or customer-service experience.
• Demonstrate strong leadership skills and the ability to motivate and develop others.
• Have an outgoing personality and genuinely enjoy interacting with guests.
• Be comfortable coaching employees and holding team members accountable.
• Possess strong communication and problem-solving skills.
• Have excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize responsibilities, stay ahead of deadlines, and follow through on commitments.
• Be able to manage multiple priorities at once, including team scheduling, training, sales initiatives, guest needs, maintenance follow-up, inventory, and administrative responsibilities.
• Be detail-oriented and consistent in completing required checklists, reports, and follow-up tasks.
• Be sales-oriented while maintaining a guest-first approach.
• Be dependable, self-motivated, and able to work effectively with limited supervision.
• Be willing to learn the operational and mechanical aspects of an express car wash.
• Be comfortable working in a fast-paced, outdoor environment.
• Be available to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays as business needs require.
• Have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
Previous car wash experience is helpful but is not required. We are more interested in finding a strong leader with the right attitude, work ethic, organizational ability, and ability to connect with people.
