Job Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate Tier 2 and Tier 3 intervention supports
  • Monitor academic progress of identified at-risk students
  • Assist with intervention planning using NWEA, grades, attendance, and behavior data
  • Develop academic recovery plans for students returning from suspension or extended absences
  • Coordinate student support meetings and intervention documentation
  • Assist teachers with identifying and implementing intervention strategies
  • Monitor and support students who are failing multiple classes
  • Monitor chronic absenteeism and patterns of attendance concerns
  • Conduct attendance intervention meetings with students and families
  • Develop attendance improvement plans
  • Implement check-in/check-out systems for targeted students
  • Increase student engagement and connection to school
  • Facilitate restorative conversations and mediation sessions
  • Support students in resolving peer conflicts appropriately
  • Conduct re-entry meetings after suspensions
  • Assist with behavior intervention planning
  • Help reduce repeat office referrals through proactive intervention strategies
  • Work with students on organization, self-regulation, and problem-solving skills
  • Serve as a liaison between school and families for at-risk students
  • Coordinate communication regarding interventions and supports
  • Connect families with outside resources when needed
  • Participate in SST/MTSS meetings and follow-up planning
  • Support student transitions and re-engagement efforts
  • Track intervention effectiveness and student progress
  • Assist administration with MTSS documentation and compliance
  • Analyze trends related to attendance, behavior, and academic performance
  • Support school improvement initiatives connected to student achievement and engagement

Minimum Qualifications & Job Requirements

Candidates for this position must demonstrate a strong commitment to supporting academically and behaviorally at-risk middle school students through a comprehensive Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS). The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications:

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Michigan teaching certificate.
  • Middle school mathematics teaching certification required.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of successful middle school teaching experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience working with at-risk students in an educational setting.
  • Strong understanding of the Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS), including Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3 interventions.
  • Experience analyzing student achievement data, including NWEA, classroom assessments, attendance, and behavioral data, to guide intervention planning.
  • Knowledge of effective intervention strategies for students experiencing academic, behavioral, and attendance challenges.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and relationship-building skills with students, staff, families, and community partners.
  • Ability to organize, monitor, and document intervention plans and student progress.

Restorative Practices Requirements

  • Must have successfully completed formal Restorative Practices training within the past twelve (12) months.
  • Must have participated in professional development related to Restorative Justice and restorative approaches to student discipline and relationship building.
  • Must commit to participating in advanced/deeper Restorative Practices training during the upcoming school year as part of the school's continued implementation efforts.
  • Demonstrated ability to facilitate restorative conversations, restorative circles, conflict resolution, and student re-entry meetings.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience coordinating or supporting MTSS, PBIS, or student intervention programs.
  • Experience conducting Student Support Team (SST) meetings and developing intervention plans.
  • Experience working with students returning from suspension or extended absences.
  • Knowledge of attendance intervention strategies and family engagement practices.
  • Experience collaborating with counselors, social workers, special education staff, and outside agencies to provide comprehensive student supports.
  • Ability to analyze school-wide trends in attendance, behavior, and academic performance to support continuous school improvement.
