What You’ll Do

As a Welder I, you will TIG weld titanium castings inside a controlled chamber using an argon atmosphere. You’ll learn and follow established procedures to make precise repairs and help ensure aerospace components meet quality and specification requirements.

Responsibilities include:

• TIG weld titanium castings inside a chamber using an argon atmosphere.
• Perform casting repairs while following applicable welding procedures and specifications.
• Use precision measuring tools such as calipers, profile templates, and other inspection equipment.
• Work with team members to understand rework requirements and repair castings to specification.
• Use a grinder to properly shape tungsten electrodes.
• Safely load and unload castings from the welding chamber.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
• Follow all safety, quality, and production requirements.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

What We’re Looking For

This position is specifically designed for individuals who are currently enrolled in, recently completed, or are graduating from a formal welding program.

Required qualifications:

• Current enrollment in or recent completion of a formal welding/vocational program.
• Ability to successfully complete a welding test within the first 6 weeks of employment.
• Ability to pass an annual eye examination.
• Basic high-school level math skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
• Ability to use small, precision tools.
• Ability to understand measurements and correctly use measurement tools.
• Strong attention to detail and visual accuracy.
• Ability to read, understand, and follow written and verbal instructions.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team while also working independently.
• Good attendance and reliable work history.
• High school diploma or GED preferred/required; candidates with relevant training or experience may be considered.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and bend, push, pull, and maneuver materials with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Willingness to complete a pre-employment background check.
• Willingness to participate in pre-employment and periodic drug screening.
• Regular and reliable attendance is required.

Previous professional welding experience is not required. This position is intended for candidates who are building their welding skills through formal education or have recently completed a welding program.

Work Environment

This position is performed in a manufacturing environment with exposure to:

• Manufacturing equipment and machinery
• Noise
• Varying temperatures
• Welding and grinding operations

Employees are expected to follow all applicable safety procedures and maintain a clean and orderly work environment.

Schedule

We understand that students may have different scheduling needs.

• Part-time schedules may be available for current welding students.
• Full-time positions are typically available on Swing or Weekend shifts.
• Scheduling will depend on the candidate's current enrollment status and business needs.
• Overtime may be available based on business needs.
