Throwing Coach - Track and Field

Notre Dame de Sion School in Kansas City, MO, is seeking an experienced throwing coach for Track and Field, for the 2026-27 school year. This position will be responsible for the throwers' program and players.

POSITION TITLE: Throwing Coach-Track and Field
REPORTS TO: HS Athletic Director/Head Track and Field Coach
 

POSITION OBJECTIVE:
To assist with and lead the current High School Throwing Program and team

 

QUALIFYING CHARACTERISTICS:
 Experience developing HS Track and Field throwers to include discus, javelin, and shot put. 
Evidenced ability to maintain and consistently exemplify the highest standards of educational
professionalism, leadership, sportsmanship, and respect
Demonstrated ability to effectively work with students, staff, administration, and parents with
proven organizational and motivational skills and possess the ability to maintain coaching responsibilities on and off campus
Flexibility in work schedule, as needed, as involvement in student life is an expectation of all
coaches, requires 1-2 overnight trips to away meets
Preferred four-year degree; Minimum two (2) years of experience coaching Track and Field Throws and teaching skills and strategies that apply to the skill level of the players
Knowledge of appropriate safety measures to ensure the well-being of players and experience
working with an Athletic Trainer, ensuring student-athletes receive proper medical and physical
training services
CPR/First Aid certification and must be able to meet the physical requirements of the position

 

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist in coordinating practice sessions and training programs for the throwers with an emphasis on athletic growth and development, fundamentals, as well as safety

Experience in the weight room; design and implement a program to include conditioning, resistance training, mobility, and recovery to help athletes develop to the best of their ability.
Attend all practices, and meets, ability to drive team van as needed; Availability to coach afternoon practices and attend afternoon meets with championship meets on Saturdays in May
In collaboration with Head Coach, promote a positive attitude, academic achievement, and
personal growth
