Thermoforming Changeover Technician — Franklin Park, IL
Step into a fast-paced production environment where your day starts on the floor and ends with lines running smoothly. As a Thermoforming Changeover Technician, you’ll ready Lyle Thermoforming and OMG equipment for production, dial in first-run parts to meet quality standards, and keep our operation moving.
A day in the life
- Begin your shift by planning Minor and Major changeovers on Lyle and OMG thermoforming lines.
- Swap inserts and tooling both offline in the tool shop and online at the press to meet the day’s schedule.
- Complete initial setup and produce first-run parts that meet all Quality Department criteria (Green Time), then work with Quality and Supervision to release lines.
- Assist with inline changeovers by performing basic extrusion operator tasks and addressing process variations.
- Repair forming molds and trim tools to maintain consistent product flow; perform general maintenance on thermoforming and labeling automation.
- Troubleshoot alongside maintenance associates to restore uptime; make adjustments and escalate to the Maintenance Manager for complex machine changes.
- Use micrometers, calipers, and other precision measuring tools to verify setups.
- Operate and interpret the machine’s computer console; help train operators on controls and best practices.
- Monitor lines for OEE performance and jump in where needed to address gaps.
- Log work performed, labor hours, and parts used in the plant’s CMMS; keep your area audit-ready with daily housekeeping.
- Pitch in with general production and packing duties when required; work effectively with limited supervision.
Pay, schedule, and how to apply
- Compensation: $30.00 – $36.00 per hour (based on experience)

Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Completion of Set Up Technician senior specialist training or equivalent hands-on experience.
- Demonstrated analytical thinking, technical aptitude, and problem-solving ability.
- Works independently and collaborates well within a team.
- Willing and able to work overtime and alternate shifts as needed.
