Job DetailsWe are seeking an experienced Mechanical Thermal Engineer to support advanced aerospace and government projects in Pasadena, CA. This role will focus on thermal and structural analysis of electronic hardware, systems, and subsystems, including enclosures and related mechanical components.
The ideal candidate will bring significant experience in thermal/structural analysis and testing, electronics packaging, and working within highly regulated engineering environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform thermal and structural analyses of electronic hardware designs and systems/subsystems.
- Determine component temperatures across a variety of operating and environmental conditions.
- Assess random vibration and fatigue life of electronic hardware.
- Review thermal and structural analyses submitted by subcontractors.
- Support environmental qualification and testing programs.
- Participate in program and project design reviews.
- Collaborate extensively with engineers, project managers, customers, and other technical disciplines.
- Prepare and communicate technical findings, analysis results, and recommendations.
- Support quality, verification, and documentation activities as needed.
- Perform other engineering duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Resident status required due to the sensitivity of customer-related information.
- Active TS clearance required.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace/Aeronautical Engineering, Physics, or a closely related discipline.
15+ years of recent, relevant engineering experience.
- Extensive experience performing thermal and structural analysis and testing of electronic hardware.
- Strong knowledge of thermal and structural design principles, analysis methodologies, and testing.
- Experience with engineering analysis/design tools such as ANSYS, COSMOS, Thermal Synthesizer System (TSS), Thermal Analyzer System (TAS), SolidWorks, or comparable software.
- Strong background in electronics packaging, mechanical engineering, or engineering/manufacturing environments.
- Ability to analyze complex engineering problems and communicate technical conclusions clearly.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to effectively collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering and project teams.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience reviewing Quality Assurance documentation, including material certifications, test data, and material traceability.
- Background in environmental requirements engineering and environmental testing.
- Experience preparing detailed inspection reports, discrepancy documentation, and nonconformance records.
- Experience supporting aerospace, defense, government, or other highly regulated engineering programs.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate with peers, share technical knowledge, and contribute to a strong team environment.
