The Arizona State Hospital (ASH) provides inpatient psychiatric care to persons with serious mental illness who need long-term behavioral health care. The Arizona State Hospital also offers 12 hour shifts for our Direct Care staff as well as some alternative work schedules, flexible hours for non-direct care staff. Job Summary:
This position is eligible for a $5,000 hiring incentive.
The Therapy Tech 2 works under general supervision of a certified/registered therapist and is responsible for a variety of activities. Duties involved include being an active participant with therapeutic treatment teams, assists in planning and carrying out rehabilitative treatment programs for the mentally ill, assist with and/or conducts therapy sessions with patients in accordance with individual treatment plans with specific methodologies and techniques, observes and records an individual''s response to therapy and alters approach to activities of individuals to better reach the goals as determined, assists in the design and construction of adaptive, assistive, and supportive equipment for use of patients to improve motor functioning, strengthen and support muscles, and/or prevent malfunction or deformity, interact personally on a face-to-face basis with patients in a helping role in accordance with goals and objectives of a therapeutic program, instructs patients in special exercises to improve patient''s dexterity, balance, concentration, or other significant physical or mental capability, confers with other members of the treatment or therapy team in discussion and planning- determining courses of action in client care, treatment, or case determination, participates in establishing and maintaining a safe, orderly, and therapeutic environment, escorts patients to and from care units, prepares materials and equipment for therapeutic activities, consults with supervisor presenting and resolving difficult problems or questions, discussing plans and actions to be taken; applies physical, leather, and metal restraints, as necessary; confers with other practitioners and technical experts in own field of specialization in order to broaden knowledge, acquire specific information and/or obtain advice or consultation, participates in in-service training and staff development programs for regularly employed staff, and perform related work as required.

Retirement:
To help you build a financially secure future, the State makes monthly contributions to finance your retirement benefit. The State will make a contribution to the ASRS in an amount equal to your contribution. In other words, you and the State will each pay 50% of the total cost of the benefit.
