State Hospital West (SHW) in Nampa is seeking a Therapy Services Director to provide clinical and program leadership within our hospital setting. This position supervises therapy services staff, leads treatment team processes, oversees program operations, and helps ensure patients receive coordinated, high-quality care.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES:

• Provide clinical and program supervision by directly supervising therapy services staff, providing ongoing clinical guidance, and overseeing daily program operations.
• Lead treatment teams by chairing treatment team meetings, facilitating collaboration among disciplines, and supporting the development and implementation of individualized treatment plans.
• Oversee program development and operations, including program design, scheduling, caseload assignments, service coordination, performance improvement, and evaluation of program effectiveness.
• Coordinate patient care and services with hospital departments, professional disciplines, regional staff, families, case managers, and community providers to promote continuity of care.
• Support the admission, transfer, and discharge process, ensuring patients have access to appropriate services and that discharge planning and community resources are coordinated when needed.
• Provide clinical assessment and treatment services as necessary, including psychosocial assessments, clinical interviews, crisis intervention, treatment planning, psychotherapy, and evaluation of patients with high-risk behaviors.
• Provide professional consultation and education to treatment teams and hospital staff regarding human development, psychopathology, therapeutic interventions, and other areas of clinical expertise.
• Support staff recruitment, onboarding, training, and professional development, including participation in interviews, orientation, continuing education, and in service training.
• Monitor quality and performance improvement activities by evaluating program effectiveness, analyzing relevant data, identifying opportunities for improvement, and implementing changes to improve patient care.
• Ensure compliance with hospital and department requirements, professional standards, legal requirements, and applicable policies and procedures while participating in hospital committees, work groups, and community outreach activities.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

You must possess all the minimum qualifications below to pass the exam for this position. • Licensure as a certified Master's Level Social Working in Idaho in accordance with Idaho Code 54-3206. Licensure must be obtained prior to appointment.

• Considerable knowledge of mental health disorders and their required treatment and rehabilitation, their etiology and basic diagnostic and assessment methods. Typically gained by a degree in social work OR four years of work experience performing these duties.

• Considerable knowledge interpreting and applying complex state and federal laws, regulations, policies, and procedures related to civil commitment, facility licensure requirements, professional standards of practice and accreditation requirements. Typically gained by a degree in social work or closely related field OR four years of work experience performing these duties.

• Good knowledge of community mental health models of service delivery necessary to provide appropriate levels of care and treatment as an alternative to hospitalization. Typically gained by at least one year of experience in community mental health.

• Good knowledge of management principles and practices. Typically gained by completion of two classes of upper division college-level coursework equivalent to "Management and Organizational Theory" and "Personnel or Human Resource Administration" that covered all the essential elements of management OR by at least one year's experience in a job situation with responsibility for all the essential elements of management or advising management in all five areas.

• Experience planning, coordinating, and evaluating social service treatment programs for the mentally ill in an inpatient setting. Typically gained by at least one year of experience with inpatient services with the mentally ill.

• Experience analyzing and solving complex system, service, and legal issues affecting mentally ill in an inpatient setting. Typically gained by at least one year of experience with inpatient services with the mentally ill.
