About the Facility: VA Puget Sound Health Care System – Seattle Division

The VA Puget Sound Health Care System is one of the leading VA healthcare systems in the country, providing comprehensive medical, surgical, mental health, and specialty care services to veterans throughout the Pacific Northwest. The Seattle Division campus features a full-service medical center with advanced radiation oncology capabilities, including a Varian TrueBeam linear accelerator with Onboard Imaging and CBCT.


The Seattle campus is located in the Beacon Hill neighborhood, minutes from downtown Seattle with easy access to public transit and major highways.

Therapeutic Radiation Technologist – RESPONSIBILITIES (include but are not limited to)

  • Treat approximately 15–25 patients per day in the radiation oncology clinic

  • Perform warm-up procedures, normal treatment operations, and emergency procedures on the Varian TrueBeam linear accelerator, including Onboard Imaging and CBCT

  • Perform imaging techniques including MV, KV, CBCT, Electron, 3D Conformal, IMRT, and VMAT SBRT/SRS procedures

  • Perform CT treatment planning scans for treatment planning and tumor localization

  • Prepare and customize patient immobilization devices

  • Deliver the prescribed therapeutic radiation dose for cancer treatment

  • Use Electronic Medical Record Systems (ARIA) to maintain patient records and treatment files

  • Utilize electronic radiation treatment charts for set-up instructions and treatment verification

  • Assist patients to and from the treatment room, transferring to and from the treatment table as necessary

  • Take port/verification films per departmental procedures

  • Prioritize tasks and schedule patients to optimize treatment times while maintaining flexibility for emergency cases

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an approved program in Therapeutic Radiologic Technology, accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT)

  • Certified by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Radiation Therapy – minimum 2 years of experience

  • BLS certification from the American Heart Association or Military Training Network

  • 3 years of experience with radiation oncology treatment machines and equipment (Varian TrueBeam preferred)

  • 3 years of experience in 3D Conformal Radiation Therapy (3D-CRT), IMRT, and IGRT

  • 3 years of experience with radiation oncology electronic medical records (Varian ARIA preferred)

  • 3 years of experience with CT Simulator (Client or equivalent)

  • Experience with Surface Guided Radiation Therapy (SGRT/VisionRT) including The Client simulations and breath hold preferred

Schedule

  • Full-time, on-site at the Seattle VAMC

  • Standard business hours – no overtime or on-call required
