Temple Shir Shalom's Preschool: The Learning Center is looking for:Lead Classroom Early Childhood Educator to work with 2 ½ through 5-year-olds.Position may be full or part time.The Learning Center at Temple Shir Shalom is uniquely defined by its"individualized, developmental, and relationship-based" approach to earlychildhood and Jewish education.The program is structured around several distinct "Pillars of TLC":• "No Owner's Manual" Support: The director, a licensed child therapist,works directly with parents to help them understand their child's specificdevelopmental stages, effectively acting as the "manual" for each uniquechild.• Playful Rabbi Relationships: Unlike formal settings, the temple's rabbis aredeeply integrated into the school's daily life, joining the children in playand celebrating Shabbat together every Friday.• Year-Round Outdoor Classrooms: Gardening and nature are corecurriculum components: children plant and maintain an organicvegetable garden, and fresh produce from this garden is often served astheir daily snack.• Seamless Social-Emotional Integration: Social skills like negotiation andproblem-solving are not taught in isolation but are woven into everyactivity, with teachers trained to guide children through their feelings inreal-time.QUALIFICATIONS:• Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education or a child related field(Preferred)• Child Development Associate Degree or Associate credential• Proven experience in early childhood education and in a leadership role• Certification in CPR and First Aid or the ability to receive certification• Current TB Test• Current Physical• Strong organizational and communication skills• Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team• Ability to relate joyfully and sensitively to children, co-workers and families.1• Knowledge of child development and social emotional learning.• Ability to seek supervision and use it constructively.• Evidence of emotional maturity and stability.• Ability to meet the physical requirements of the position.KEY RESPOSIBILITIES• Provide a developmentally appropriate classroom environment thatreflects the children's learning and growth.o Prepare daily lesson plans according to the curriculum to bedisplayed for parent education.o Utilize all that nature and the outdoors offer both in the classroomand outside.o Prepare and submit a professional monthly newsletter to familiesthat includes photos and curriculum content.• Observe, record and report individual child's behavior.o Maintain written observations (anecdotal notes)o Complete Developmental Profile created by Director.o Conduct two parent conferences a school year.o Commitment to accuracy and quality while meeting deadlines.• Approach every child knowing their individual differences to foster theirsuccess in the group process.o See the world through the preschooler's eyes.o Interact and connect with each child knowing play is the languagewe speak fluently at The Learning Center.o Willingness to assist with children's basic needs, including but notlimited to, child self-care, diaper changing, potty training,meals/snacks, etc.o Consult with the school director to discuss issues and to establishappropriate strategies for dealing with child behavior.o Assist individual children who have trouble in the group or whotemporarily lose their emotional control.• Effectively communicate and work with fellow staff to provide a cohesiveworking environment.o Provide the necessary communication to explain your needs toassistant teacher.o Respect and provide education based on your child developmenttraining to assistant teacher.2• Exhibit professionalism by respecting the confidentiality of the childrenand their families, and by refraining from discussing one's own personal lifewhile in the work environment.• Sensitive to the individual needs of families.o Ability to communicate with families effectively.o Greet all parents and develop a positive rapport with them.• Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current witheducational trends and state licensing regulations.o Complete 16 hours of training annually required by state licensingofficialso Attend regularly scheduled monthly staff meetings for self-reflection,community building, multi-disciplinary strategies, psychoeducationfor the classroom and peer exchange regarding students, parentsand events.• Have knowledge and understanding of all Licensing Rules for Child CareCenters based on state of Michigan requirements.o Be familiar with current emergency written plans and diagrams foruse in case of fire, tornado, or other emergencies.o Manage fire and tornado drills according to licensing requirements.o Participate in the process of fingerprinting and background check.3
