Who We Are

Disability Resources (DR) is one of twelve departments housed in the Division of Student Affairs. Disability Resources staff members interact and collaborate with faculty, staff, and students to achieve a learning environment for students with disabilities at Texas A&M University.

The Disability Resources Testing Center, where these positions will work, administers more than 30,000 exams and finals each academic year. We provide testing accommodations such as extended time, reduced distraction environments, and assistive technology to support over 5,500 students registered with Disability Resources. We promote accessibility as everyone's responsibility and strive to provide a welcoming campus for disabled students.

What We Want

The Testing Center Coordinator I works under general supervision and provides administrative support for Disability Resources to include the exercise of discretion and independent judgement with respect to matters of significance.

We have several positions available, all 9-months (August-May) and one of the following flexible work schedules:

7:30 am - 4:30 pm

9:00 am - 6:00 pm

12:30 pm - 9:30 pm or 10:30 am - 7:30 pm

What You Need To Know

  • These positions will require extended hours during the four days of finals in the Fall (December) and Spring (May) semesters.

  • May supervise student employees.

  • Salary: $33,750 for 9-month positions.

Responsibilities

Exam Administration

  • Utilizes a data management system to track and maintain a daily testing schedule.

  • Monitors, reviews and processes exam requests.

  • Oversee scheduling and sends reminders of upcoming exams.

  • Assists instructors with questions related to scheduling.

  • Coordinates and processes exams received from instructors.

  • Composes emails, initiates phone calls, and communicates with testing center staff and student employees.

  • Troubleshooting including but not limited to errors in AIM, access issues with canvas or other systems, and incorrect exam materials.

Front Desk Coverage

  • Provides front desk coverage such as opening the office in the morning, answering phones, greeting students, and facilitating exam check-in/out process.

  • Enforces time limits and compliance.

  • Proctors and monitors exams via local CCTV or online through web conferencing while complying with directives from faculty and testing center policies and informs appropriate personnel of incidents during testing.

  • Manages online web conferencing for remote proctoring.

  • Serves as liaison for service contracts.

  • Participates in training of student employees and assigns work to student employees.

Following Policies and Procedures

  • Applies, interprets, and communicates Testing Center policies and procedures.

  • Serves as a resource for answering questions regarding policies.

  • Supports the front desk staff by problem solving issues that may arise.

  • Consults with instructors, supervisors, and other staff as needed.

Data Tracking and Planning

  • Creates and maintains spreadsheets on the utilization of the Testing Center.

  • Creates reports to assist with planning for overflow space and proctors.

  • Books proctors and overflow space.

  • Maintains office supplies, equipment, and files.

  • Assists staff with special projects such as tracking information and updating data management system.

Representation

  • May have the opportunity to serve on department committees.

  • Completes projects as needed to assist other Disability Resources staff.

  • Participates in professional development.

Qualifications

Required Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Two years of experience in office administration.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to relate to a variety of people, including those with disabilities.

  • Customer service skills.

  • Working knowledge of assistive technology.

  • Knowledge regarding Higher Education and Student Affairs.

  • Knowledge, skills, or understanding of LMS and Zoom video conferencing software.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.

  • Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation applications.

  • Interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Planning and organization skills.

Other Requirements and Factors:

  • During final exam administration, this position will be required to work evenings (usually 4-6 days in December and 4-6 days in May).

  • In addition, occasional evening work may be required during busy test days to ensure Testing Center operations run smoothly through the evening shifts.
