Description

Starting pay: $14.00/hour · 20–25 hours/week · Set schedule · No nights · Closed Sundays

Innovative Minds has operated professional computer-based testing centers for more than 18 years. We are hiring a part-time Front Desk Testing Center Administrator for our Houston North (77060) location.

This is a customer-facing office position that combines front desk service, administrative responsibilities, computer-based testing, and digital fingerprinting. You’ll work directly with candidates throughout the day while maintaining a professional, organized, and secure testing environment.

Please note before applying: All shifts begin at 8:00 AM, and this position requires successful completion of a federal background check. Both are firm requirements of the role.

This position offers a consistent schedule with assigned shifts, making it easier to plan your week in advance. There are no night shifts, and the center is closed Sundays. Occasionally, you may be asked if you are available to cover an additional shift when a coworker is out.

All shifts begin at 8:00 AM. Our testing center operates by appointment, so candidates are scheduled to begin arriving when the center opens.

  • Monday–Friday: 8:00 AM–5:00 PM
  • Saturday: 8:00 AM–2:00 PM, rotating
  • Sunday: Closed
Candidates visit our center to take professional licensing and certification exams. Much of your day will involve front desk interaction, administrative tasks, and assisting candidates through the testing process.

You’ll be responsible for:
  • Greeting candidates and providing professional front desk customer service
  • Checking candidates in and verifying identification and required documentation
  • Answering candidate questions and explaining testing procedures
  • Preparing testing rooms and computer workstations
  • Assisting candidates with basic computer login and setup
  • Monitoring exam sessions and maintaining exam security
  • Maintaining accurate testing records
  • Documenting and reporting incidents or technical issues
  • Completing opening and closing responsibilities
  • Keeping the front desk and testing areas organized and professional
The testing rooms remain quiet, but the front desk can be fast-paced. You may be helping one candidate, checking in another, answering questions, and monitoring testing activity at the same time.

What we're looking for

You do not need previous testing-center experience. We are looking for someone who is comfortable working in a professional, customer-facing office environment and can provide a positive experience for the people visiting our center.

You may be a good fit if you have experience in areas such as customer service, reception, administrative support, retail, hospitality, banking, medical offices, or other front desk environments, although previous experience is not required.

  • Occasional reaching, bending, and lifting or handling testing materials and office supplies, generally up to 20 pounds
  • Clear verbal communication with candidates and applicants in a quiet environment
  • Sustained attention and alertness throughout the assigned shift
Qualified individuals must be able to perform the essential functions of this position, with or without reasonable accommodation.
