Job Summary

The Test Technician is responsible for conducting testing, troubleshooting, repair, and verification of electronic products, components, and systems to ensure production quality and reliability standards are achieved. This role supports manufacturing operations through maintenance of test processes, equipment calibration, preventive maintenance, and new product introduction activities.

Key Responsibilities


  • Perform testing, troubleshooting, debugging, and repair of electronic assemblies and systems.
  • Execute test and burn-in procedures according to engineering and quality standards.
  • Configure, format, and build software based on unit configurations.
  • Flash firmware onto CMIC sub-assemblies and connect system hardware and cabling.
  • Set up and maintain complex disk arrays and Ethernet connections.
  • Conduct module verification and system-level diagnostics.
  • Maintain and improve test processes to increase quality and production efficiency.
  • Ensure all testing activities comply with safety, ISO-9000, and applicable regulatory standards.
  • Support preventive maintenance, calibration, and qualification schedules for test equipment.
  • Assist engineering teams with new product introduction and development activities.
  • Coordinate repair and recovery activities for failed test systems or equipment downtime.
  • Read and interpret schematics, technical drawings, work instructions, and engineering documentation.
  • Document test results, failures, corrective actions, and process updates.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to manufacturing and testing processes.
  • Train and assist other technicians as needed.

Qualifications

Education & Experience


  • Associate degree in Electronics, Electrical Technology, or related technical field preferred.

  • Military technical training or equivalent hands-on experience may be considered.

  • Experience requirements vary by level:

    • Test Technician I: 1+ year

    • Test Technician II: 2+ years

    • Test Technician III: 4+ years

    • Test Technician IV: 6+ years

    • Test Technician V: 8+ years  

Required Skills & Knowledge


  • Knowledge of electronic testing and troubleshooting techniques.

  • Ability to use:

    • Oscilloscopes

    • Logic analyzers

    • Multimeters

    • Cable/harness testing equipment

    • Soldering and rework tools

  • Experience with PCB assembly and component-level troubleshooting.

  • Ability to read schematics, wiring diagrams, and assembly drawings.

  • Familiarity with DOS, Windows, Unix/Linux, or similar operating systems.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Basic computer skills including spreadsheets and data entry.

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications


  • Experience in manufacturing or production environments.

  • Familiarity with firmware flashing and hardware configuration.

  • Knowledge of preventive maintenance and calibration procedures.

  • Experience supporting high-volume electronic production lines.

  • AWS or networking familiarity preferred for advanced levels.

Physical Requirements


  • Ability to sit for extended periods and handle small electronic components.

  • Occasionally required to stand, walk, and lift up to 25 pounds.

  • Must have close vision, color vision, and depth perception.

Work Environment


  • Manufacturing and laboratory environment.

  • Moderate noise levels.

  • Repetitive motion activities may be required.
