Test Engineer – Protection & Control (P&C)

Job Summary

We are seeking a Test Engineer – Protection & Control (P&C) with 0–3 years of experience to support the installation, testing, maintenance, and troubleshooting of protection and control systems used in power substations. This role is ideal for early-career engineers looking to build hands-on experience in electrical power systems, protection relays, and control technologies.

The engineer will apply electrical engineering fundamentals and computer-based tools to ensure reliable operation of protection and control equipment, including microprocessor relays, PLCs, sensors, motors, and associated systems.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, test, and troubleshoot protection and control relaying systems and associated devices

  • Perform calibration and testing of protection and control relays and related equipment

  • Assist in developing, updating, and maintaining protection and control documentation

  • Support assigned project leads with field activities and testing assignments

  • Install, program, configure, and maintain P&C relays and devices

  • Participate in process hazard analyses (PHA) and safety reviews

  • Read, interpret, and work from electrical schematics and wiring diagrams

  • Maintain awareness of current industry standards, technologies, and best practices

  • Follow safety procedures and quality standards during field and testing activities

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent (required)

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Electrical Engineering preferred)

  • 0–3 years of experience in engineering, testing, or a related technical role

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications

  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and drawings

  • Working knowledge of PLCs and HMIs

  • Understanding of AC and DC electrical systems

  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills

  • Willingness to work in field environments such as substations
