Role: Test Development Engineer

Location: San Diego, CA- Onsite

Duration: 12 months contact with possible extension and conversion

Pay Range: $45 - $50/hour on w2

Meet the team:

The Test Development Engineer 1 develops automation test fixtures involving design, development, building and maintenance of specialized hardware fixtures like robotic arms and software/firmware tools used in various industries like manufacturing and electrical installations, ensuring the precise and efficient operation of equipment to be used for product testing. Depending on the project, the role might involve assembling electrical and mechanical components like in-house developed robotic arms and other hardware fixtures.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the on-site owner of the lab environment, ensuring infrastructure is stable, secure, and fully usable by remote teams.
  • Configure and deploy standardized Mac and PC images with required security patches and updates.
  • Collaborate with IT to maintain reliable network connectivity and quickly resolve infrastructure issues.
  • Assemble and maintain racks, servers, and hardware systems to support validation and testing needs.
  • Assemble electrical and mechanical fixtures used for the product testing in CGM systems.
  • Install and repair wiring and conductive elements and electrical components of the test fixtures
  • Test and inspect electrical work like wiring and soldering to ensure safe installation and compliance
  • Document lab layouts, device inventories, processes, and usage standards to ensure transparency and operational continuity and security regulations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Required Skills:

  • Hands-on experience managing physical lab infrastructure, including hardware setup, rack configuration, and device provisioning.
  • Bring strong knowledge of macOS and Windows imaging, patch management, and endpoint security practices.
  • Understand networking fundamentals (switching, routing, VLANs, firewalls) and can troubleshoot connectivity issues effectively.

Preferred Skills:

  • Knowledge of source code management, such as Git.
  • Knowledge of Android and/or iOS devices, including debugging, installation, and configuration.
  • Knowledge of API based testing for server communications

Education Requirements:

  • B.S computer science or related engineering
