Vaco is hiring a Test & Compliance Engineer (Mid-Level)

Location: Boca Raton, FL

Compensation: $100-$120k/annually

Focus: Verification & Validation (V&V) | Aerospace & Industrial Camera Systems


Position Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and technically strong Test & Compliance Engineer to support Verification and Validation (V&V) activities for industrial and aerospace camera systems.

This role is responsible for developing and executing test strategies aligned with commercial, industrial, aerospace, and defense standards, ensuring requirements compliance, and evaluating both internal and third-party test data.

The ideal candidate will have experience translating complex technical requirements into actionable test plans, working within highly regulated and standardized environments, and producing clear, defensible verification documentation.

Key Responsibilities

Verification & Validation (V&V)

  • Develop, document, and maintain V&V plans, procedures, and reports
  • Ensure verification activities align with applicable MIL-STDs, aerospace standards, and commercial regulatory requirements
  • Define appropriate verification methods, including:
    • Test
    • Analysis
    • Inspection
    • Demonstration
  • Ensure verification methods are traceable to system and subsystem requirements
  • Support environmental, functional, and qualification testing

Requirements Analysis & Traceability

  • Review and interpret system, hardware, and software requirements for:
    • Testability
    • Completeness
    • Compliance
  • Develop and maintain Requirements Traceability Matrices (RTMs)
  • Link requirements to verification methods and final results
  • Partner with Systems Engineering to identify and clarify ambiguous or incomplete requirements
  • Translate technical requirements into appropriate test cases and procedures

Test Planning & Execution

  • Develop detailed test plans, procedures, and test cases
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to create test scripts
  • Coordinate and support:
    • Laboratory testing
    • Bench testing
    • Field testing
    • Environmental testing
    • Qualification testing
  • Ensure proper test setup, instrumentation, and data collection
  • Validate the accuracy and integrity of test results

Compliance & Standards

  • Ensure testing activities comply with applicable regulatory and industry standards
  • Work with standards including:
    • MIL-STD-810
    • MIL-STD-461
    • FCC
    • CE / European EMC requirements
    • Other applicable aerospace and commercial standards
  • Support audits and compliance reviews
  • Prepare documentation and evidence packages demonstrating requirements compliance

Third-Party Testing & Vendor Evaluation

  • Review and interpret third-party/vendor test reports
  • Evaluate external testing related to:
    • EMI/EMC
    • Environmental testing
    • Reliability
    • Qualification
  • Assess vendor test data for completeness, validity, and compliance
  • Identify gaps, discrepancies, or potential risks
  • Provide actionable recommendations when test results do not fully satisfy requirements

Documentation & Reporting

  • Develop clear and concise:
    • Test reports
    • Compliance summaries
    • Technical justifications
    • Verification documentation
  • Present findings and recommendations to Engineering, Quality, Program Management, and other cross-functional teams
  • Maintain documentation necessary to support verification closure and compliance requirements

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with Systems, Design, Quality, Manufacturing, and Operations teams throughout the product lifecycle
  • Support:
    • Design Reviews
    • Test Readiness Reviews (TRR)
    • Verification Closure Reviews
  • Help ensure compliance and verification requirements are considered throughout product development

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related technical field
  • 5–7 years of experience within aerospace and defense or another highly standardized/regulated industry
  • Demonstrated experience developing and executing V&V test plans and procedures
  • Experience with electronic hardware testing and validation
  • Strong familiarity with commercial regulatory and MIL-STD frameworks
  • Ability to read and interpret complex technical requirements
  • Ability to derive test cases and procedures from engineering requirements
  • Experience with requirements traceability and RTMs
  • Experience reviewing third-party/vendor test reports for compliance and completeness
  • Strong understanding of verification methodologies
  • Excellent technical writing and documentation skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with DO-160
  • Experience with EMI/EMC testing
  • Environmental and qualification testing experience
  • Experience within hardware/software system integration and validation environments
  • Knowledge of AS9100 or similar quality management systems
  • Experience supporting government or defense contracts
  • Experience analyzing test data and identifying trends, anomalies, or potential failures
  • Aerospace hardware or electronics experience
