Overview:

TES Research & Production Specialist will assist grad students working with live fish/shrimp in a research and production setting.  Duties could include but aren't limited to sample processing, analysis, data recording, caring for animals (fish and shrimp) and system maintenance.  Pond work to include but not limited to sample collection, pond management and maintenance of research systems.  This will be a temporary assignment based on need and funding.

 

Temporary Employment Services (TES), a unit of the Auburn University Department of Human Resources, is an in-house support center established to meet the temporary employment needs of the university. TES provides qualified and dedicated temporary employees in a wide variety of occupations to meet the staffing needs throughout the campus. Temporary employees are hired for a variety of reasons with the most common being: 
 
  • Assistance in the place of a regular employee who is absent for a specified period of time 
  • Additional assistance during periods of abnormal or peak workloads 
  • Assistance with special projects 
  • Seasonal work 
  • Emergencies

AU students are not eligible for TES. 
Responsibilities:
  • Assisting with the feeding and care of animals (fish/shrimp) to include lifting heavy bags of feed.
  • Assisting grad students with sampling and sampling processing.
  • Assisting with general lab and field duties.
  • Maintaining a clean and organized work environment.
  • Work in a group environment as well as independently as directed.
Qualifications:
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Candidate needs to be capable of swimming.
  • B.S. in Biological Sciences or related field is acceptable.  Master's degree is preferred.
  • Experience in aquaculture environments.
Pay Range: USD $16.00 - USD $16.00 /Hr.
