Term Faculty (Non-Tenure Track) - Modern Languages, French (26-27)

The Department of Modern Languages at DePaul University in Chicago is accepting applications for a full-time Professor of Instruction in French for the 2026-27 academic year. Responsibilities will include teaching 9 courses (3-3-3), both in French at various levels (including advanced topics courses) and in English for DePaul's Liberal Studies Program. Additional duties may include course development, student advising, and collaboration with student organizations and community partners. This role may also include periodic directorship of the French Language Program as needed. The scholarly background for this position is open. We seek a versatile teacher-scholar who demonstrates innovative pedagogy in multiple areas such as Francophone cultural studies, French for Specific Purposes, linguistics, translation, or literature. Except for the College of Law, DePaul University operates on a quarter system. Classes in Autumn, Winter, and Spring quarters are 11 weeks in length (including finals week) and Summer courses, in two sessions, are typically 5 weeks in length. The College of Law operates on the semester system. Classes in the Fall and Spring semesters are 16 weeks in length (including finals week) and it offers a Summer Session of 7 weeks (including final exams).

• Native or near-native proficiency in French and English;
• A minimum of a Master''s degree in French or a closely related field (PhD or ABD preferred);
• A minimum of one year of teaching experience at the college or post-secondary level.
