Summary

Taylor University is seeking applications and nominations of distinguished candidates for a tenure-track faculty position in Education beginning in August 2027. Rank and salary are dependent upon qualifications and experience.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Teach a full-time load of 24 load hours per academic year, with responsibility for undergraduate courses in special education and inclusive practices and the potential to teach additional courses in elementary and/or secondary education based on background and program needs. Opportunities to teach graduate courses may be available in the future.
• Design interactive and engaging classroom experiences that integrate faith and learning while modeling effective, evidence-based practices for supporting students with disabilities and other diverse learning needs in inclusive educational settings.
• Advise students on licensure requirements, degree progress, and professional development while coaching students in the professional and ethical practices expected of educators, including thoughtful and appropriate use of person-first and identity-first language.
• Supervise and mentor pre-service teachers through advising and field experiences.
• Collaborate with Education Department colleagues to strengthen teacher preparation programs including contributions to accreditation and program-review processes and support alignment with applicable state and national standards for educator preparation, particularly those related to special education and inclusive practice.
• Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with local schools, special education professionals, and other educational partners to strengthen clinical experiences and connections between university coursework and P-12 practice.
• Serve the university, community, and profession through committee work, partnerships with schools and community organizations, participation in faculty governance, and involvement in relevant professional organizations.
• Participate in professional development and continuing education to remain current with research, policy, legislation, and emerging practices in special education, inclusive education, and teacher preparation.
• Conduct scholarly research and/or engage in scholarly activity that contributes to special education, inclusive education, teacher preparation, or related areas.
• Possess excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
• Attend chapel and participate in the broader spiritual and community life of the university.

Typical Qualifications

Candidates must have a personal, vibrant faith and Christian walk and be strongly committed to the educational mission and evangelical Christian orientation of the University. An earned doctorate in education or a related field is preferred. ABD and master's-level candidates may be considered. Evidence of significant, effective instructional experience and a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching is essential. The candidate should have diverse teaching experiences and demonstrated expertise in special education, including knowledge of evidence-based practices for supporting students with disabilities in inclusive educational settings. Additionalteaching experience in the elementary or secondary classroomis preferred. The successful candidate will contribute to our dynamic teacher preparation program by preparing future elementary educators who are competent, caring, reflective, and prepared for world service.

The Education Department comprises eleven faculty and staff and is accredited by CAEP and the Indiana Department of Education. Undergraduate Teacher Education candidates may obtain licensure in All-grade (P-12) Art and Music Education, K-6 Elementary Education, and Secondary Education (grades 5-12) offered in Biology, Chemistry, English, English/Theatre Arts, Mathematics, Mathematics/Computer Science, Physics, Physics/Mathematics, Physical Science, Social Studies and Spanish. Additional licensure offerings include Mild and Intense Intervention and Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages.
