The Department of Civil, Environmental and Architectural Engineering at the University of Colorado (CU) Boulder seeks applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor within the field of Architectural Engineering. This search is particularly interested in scholars whose work advances the design, construction, and operation of terrestrial built environments and extra-planetary settlements. Areas of interest include, but are not limited to, innovative materials and construction systems; mechanical, electrical, and lighting systems; sensing and monitoring technologies; digital twin modeling approaches; and automated optimized controls. Applications are welcomed from candidates whose work spans diverse domains, including high-performance and resilient buildings, livable spaces, data centers, artificial intelligence infrastructure, and other emerging built-environment applications. All candidates with interdisciplinary engineering fields related to designing, constructing, operating, and deconstructing built environments will be considered.

The Department of Civil, Environmental and Architectural Engineering (CEAE) at CU Boulder educates students to become leaders in the professional practice of engineering, contributing to technological advances that benefit humankind while enhancing the earth's physical and biological resources. The fields of civil, environmental and architectural engineering offer careers in planning, design, construction and management of the built environment as well as in the interaction between the built and natural environment. The Architectural Engineering program at the University of Colorado Boulder is a premier education and research interdisciplinary program in building systems engineering. In particular, the program covers a wide range of building technologies including construction materials, structural, mechanical, electrical, and lighting systems as well as advanced controls with a focus on integrated and innovative solutions for designing, constructing, and operating sustainable buildings and urban communities. What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

• Successful candidates will be expected to engage in undergraduate and graduate teaching and mentoring; develop an externally funded research program in their technical area; contribute professional leadership and service to their unit, the college, and their professional community; and cultivate and contribute to the inclusive excellence of our academic community.
• The typical distribution of work for this role is 40% teaching, 40% scholarly and creative work (research), and 20% leadership and service.

• The anticipated start date for this position is Fall 2027; however, a later start date may be negotiated.
• The University of Colorado Boulder has implemented a reference check program with respect to final candidates for tenured faculty appointments. The reference check program is intended to allow CU Boulder to collect and review information about a candidate's conduct at their current and previous institutions, specifically conduct related to sexual misconduct, harassment, and/or discrimination, before making hiring decisions. • The anticipated academic year salary range for this position at the Assistant Professor rank is $115,000 - $128,000.
• A relocation stipend may be available within CEAS guidelines.

• Applicants must have earned a research doctorate in any relevant engineering field, or have their degree conferred before starting a tenure-track faculty appointment.
