    The Department of Accounting and Finance in the Lombardo College of Business welcomes applications for a full-time tenure-track assistant professor position beginning August 2027.

    About the position:

    Responsibilities include teaching, advising students, scholarly or creative work, and department and university service. Actual assignments will depend upon department needs. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate courses in accounting, finance, or both, depending on departmental needs and the candidate's qualifications. Candidates with expertise in either discipline or the ability to teach in both disciplines are encouraged to apply.

    Salary and rank are commensurate with qualifications as well as aligned with the details contained in the Collective Bargaining Agreement and the Millersville University Promotion Statement.

    Minimum qualifications required to be considered for appointment at the rank of Associate include having an earned doctorate and a minimum of five years of full-time teaching experience (or its equivalent) and scholarship commensurate with this rank.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    EFFECTIVE TEACHING AND PERFORMANCE OF PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Tenure Track faculty are responsible for teaching introductory and upper-level undergraduate courses in accounting and/or finance depending on departmental needs and the candidate's qualifications.

    Faculty are expected to hold regular office hours as well as be able to teach in a variety of delivery modalities.

    DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION:

    We are part of the Lombardo College of Business, with 23 tenured or tenure-track faculty. The Accounting and Finance Department is committed to excellence in teaching, student engagement, and career preparation. Faculty members work closely with students both inside and outside the classroom, fostering meaningful mentoring relationships that support academic success and professional growth. Our programs emphasize experiential learning, internships, professional networking, and strong connections with industry partners.     Required Qualifications

    Degree Qualifications:

    We welcome applications from both academically qualified and professionally qualified candidates. Selection will be based on the candidate's ability to excel in teaching, student engagement, and service to the department and university.

    Candidates may qualify through one of the following pathways:

    • An earned doctorate or ABD in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field from an accredited institution. ABD candidates may be considered if degree completion is expected by the date required to remain eligible for continued appointment.
    • Non-Doctoral Candidates: A master's degree in accounting, finance, or an MBA with a concentration in Accounting or Finance from an accredited institution.

    All candidates must have at least 15 graduate credit hours in the discipline of the position sought (accounting or finance).

    Teaching and Industry Experience:

    Doctoral/ABD candidates:

    • A minimum of two years of full-time teaching experience in accounting or finance at the college level; alternatively, candidates may qualify with five years of full-time professional industry experience in accounting, finance, or a related field and experience as the instructor of record for at least two college-level courses.

    Non-doctoral candidates:

    • A minimum of two years of full-time teaching experience in accounting or finance at the college level OR ten years of full-time professional industry experience in accounting, finance, or a related field.
    • Possession of a professional certification, such as CPA, CMA, CFA, CFP, or a related designation.

    All candidates must:

    • Provide evidence of:

    • teaching effectiveness, such as teaching evaluations, sample syllabi, teaching awards, or other relevant materials.

    • the ability to successfully teach diverse student populations.

    • Possess excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

    • Be proficient in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

    • Be committed to the inclusive teaching practices and working with diverse student populations.

    • Complete a successful interview.

    • Complete a successful teaching demonstration.

    • Complete three successful background checks.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Full-time teaching experience and professional industry experience, particularly in positions of leadership or managerial responsibility.
    • An active professional certification.
    • A demonstrated ability to mentor and advise students, including support for internships, career preparation, or professional development.
    • Evidence of scholarly activity and/or professional industry engagement.
    • Experience teaching online courses.

    Essential Functions
