The Department of Applied Engineering, Safety & Technology in the College of Science & Technology welcomes applications for a full-time tenure-track Assistant Professor position with specialization in construction management beginning January or August 2027.
About the position:
Responsibilities include teaching, advising students, scholarly or creative work and department and university service. Actual assignments will depend upon department needs.
Based upon expertise of the successful applicant, primary responsibilities will include teaching lecture and/or laboratory-based courses such as: Construction Project Management, Statics & Strength of Materials, Green Buildings & Sustainable Systems, Construction I, Construction II, Engineering Visualization, Architectural Drawing, Introductory Materials Processing, or Drafting courses. Additionally, the position requires advising students; conducting scholarly work; and providing service to the department, university, and community. All members of the faculty also have the responsibility to accept those reasonable duties assigned to them within their fields of competence. Actual assignments will depend upon department needs.
Salary and rank are commensurate with qualifications as well as aligned with the details contained in the Collective Bargaining Agreement and the Millersville University Promotion Statement.
Minimum qualifications required to be considered for appointment at the rank of Associate include having an earned doctorate and a minimum of five years of full-time teaching experience (or its equivalent) and scholarship commensurate with this rank.

Duties and Responsibilities
EFFECTIVE TEACHING AND PERFORMANCE OF PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Tenure Track faculty are responsible for effectively teaching students both in assigned courses and outside-the-classroom settings (e.g., student research, service learning, field activities and placements), advise students, and carry out other assigned professional responsibilities in support of student learning and success. The academic-year workload for full-time faculty is 24 workload hours and faculty must hold a minimum of five office hours per week on no fewer than three different days. Primary teaching responsibilities will be for undergraduate and/or graduate professional and laboratory-based courses in construction management and construction technology. Course content is likely to include some combination of the following: Construction Project Management, Statics & Strength of Materials, Green Buildings & Sustainable Systems, Construction I, Construction II, Engineering Visualization, Architectural Drawing, introductory materials processing, or drafting courses. Candidates must be willing to teach day, evening, and weekend classes on or off the Millersville campus using a variety of instructional strategies in face-to-face, web-enhanced, or online formats. All members of the faculty also have the responsibility to accept those reasonable duties assigned to them within their fields of competence. Actual assignments will depend upon department needs.
Faculty are expected to hold regular office hours as well as be able to teach in a variety of delivery modalities.

Provide service on an ongoing basis by contributing professionally to department and university governance, the professional community and/or the community at large, in a participatory, developmental, or advisory capacity. Candidates must be willing to participate in undergraduate- and graduate-level curricular activities including assisting in activities associated with maintaining program approval at the state and national levels.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supervise interns, practicum students and graduate assistants as well as thesis and dissertations. Other reasonable duties assigned within the faculty member's field of competence. Additionally, faculty are expected to actively engage in curricular development and evaluation as well as co-curricular, assessment, and accreditation activities.

DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION:
The Department of Applied Engineering, Safety & Technology (AEST), in the College of Science and Technology, is comprised of 10 faculty members, one full-time secretary, two full-time laboratory technicians, and over 400 students collectively majoring or minoring in Applied Engineering & Technology Management (APEM), Automation & Robotics Engineering Technology (AURO), Manufacturing Engineering Technology (MANE), Occupational Safety and Environmental Health (OCSE), and Technology and Engineering Education (TCEE). The department offers Associate's, Bachelor's, and Master's level degree programs. The Master's degree is a Master of Science in Technology & Innovation .
Osburn Hall, a dedicated facility for the Department, houses its classrooms, state-of-the-art laboratories, and offices. This campus center for the study of applied engineering, safety and technology is organized according to technology clusters.
