    Description

    The ABET-accredited Architectural Engineering (AREN) program will join the Zachry Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering in the College of Engineering at Texas A&M University effective September 1, 2026.

    The Zachry Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor position with a nine-month academic appointment. An additional summer appointment may be available, contingent upon departmental needs and the availability of funds. The anticipated start date is Spring 2027 or Fall 2027.

    Applicants will be considered at the Assistant Professor level with expertise in Architectural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related discipline, with a focus on Building Mechanical Systems. The successful candidate is expected to demonstrate strong fundamental knowledge in a core area of architectural engineering and the ability to apply this expertise to address societally relevant challenges.

    Candidates should demonstrate rigorous training in their primary area of expertise, along with strong potential to contribute to the field through original scholarship, effective teaching and student mentoring, and service to the university and the profession. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate and graduate courses; advise and mentor undergraduate and graduate students; develop an independent, externally funded research program; participate in departmental activities and service; collaborate with faculty across the College of Engineering; engage with industry and government partners and in professional service; and contribute to the continued growth of the Architectural Engineering program. The successful candidate will also contribute to undergraduate and graduate curriculum development, program assessment, and continuous improvement activities associated with maintaining excellence in the ABET-accredited Architectural Engineering program. Strong written and verbal communication skills are required.

    The Zachry Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering is among the leading civil and environmental engineering departments in the nation, with approximately 55 tenured/tenure-track faculty, 22 academic professional track faculty members. Our student population is comprised of over 900 undergraduate students (sophomore to senior level) and 370 graduate students. In addition, the Architectural Engineering program includes over 280 undergraduate students.     Qualifications

    Applicants must have an earned doctoral degree in Architectural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a closely related engineering or science discipline by the appointment date. Candidates completing all Ph.D. requirements except the dissertation (ABD) will be considered, provided they demonstrate clear progress toward completion.

    Additional Required Qualifications:

    • Strong background in thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, heat transfer, and building environmental systems.
    • Potential to develop a nationally and internationally recognized, externally funded research program.
    • Commitment to excellence in undergraduate and graduate teaching and student mentoring.
    • Ability to collaborate across disciplines and with industry partners.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Professional Engineering licensure or the ability to obtain licensure is desirable/preferred but not required.
