Temporary Technical Designer – Men's Apparel

Location: San Francisco (primarily onsite with some flexibility for remote work)
Hourly Rate: $40–$65/hour

Overview

We are seeking a Temporary Technical Designer to support product development within the Men's Apparel category. This role will focus on technical design execution, fit consistency, and maintaining high-quality standards across a broad assortment of woven and knit men's products in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Support technical design development for Men's Apparel across multiple product categories, including shirts, pants, outerwear, knit tops, and tailored pieces.
  • Create, update, and maintain technical packages (tech packs) and product specifications.
  • Review garment construction, fit, grading, and measurements to ensure accuracy, consistency, and quality across a variety of men's silhouettes and fabrications.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Design, Product Development, Merchandising, and Production teams throughout the product development process.
  • Assist with fit sessions and communicate fit comments, construction recommendations, grading updates, and pattern corrections.
  • Ensure product details, materials, construction methods, and finishing standards align with brand expectations and customer needs.
  • Maintain organized documentation and support process improvement and standardization initiatives across the technical design function.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of technical design experience in apparel, preferably within Men's Apparel.
  • Strong understanding of men's garment construction, fit, grading, and measurement standards across woven and knit products.
  • Experience creating and managing tech packs, specifications, and construction documentation.
  • Knowledge of a wide range of men's product categories, including shirting, bottoms, outerwear, knits, and tailored garments.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a deadline-driven, cross-functional environment.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and PLM systems preferred.
