Job Title: Temporary Special Project Associate, Receiving Dept 1st Shift
Location: Leeds, AL 35094
Pay Rate: $18.94 per hour
Work Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM (30-minute lunch, two 10-minute breaks;
(Note: Any overtime must be pre-authorized)
Contract Role for 119 days; 4 positions open)
Overview of the Job
The Temporary Special Project Associate in the Receiving Department supports key operational initiatives focused on physical inventory counts, data collection, material verification, and warehouse organization. This detail-oriented role is responsible for counting and reconciling inventory, operating motorized material-handling equipment, taking precise material measurements, and tracking project data in Microsoft Excel. This temporary contract role is designed to execute special inventory and continuous improvement initiatives within the facility.
Job Specifications
Primary Responsibilities
• Conduct physical inventory, cycle counts, material audits, and inventory validation projects.
• Count, verify, and reconcile material quantities across designated receiving and warehouse locations.
• Operate motorized material-handling equipment safely, including forklifts and powered industrial vehicles (as authorized and trained).
• Read and interpret manufacturing drawings, blueprints, and technical documents to verify parts.
• Measure materials accurately using tape measures, measuring devices, and small/large scales to weigh materials and log data.
• Create location labels and place them accurately in designated material storage areas.
• Gather, organize, and maintain project data by creating and updating Microsoft Excel spreadsheets for reporting.
• Document findings, track project milestones, and communicate daily progress to project leadership.
• Adhere to established safety protocols, company policies, and 5S/warehouse organization standards.
• Work independently with minimal supervision to prioritize tasks and meet project deadlines.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Excel & Basic Assessment Requirements: Basic proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data entry and spreadsheet management (skill assessments in counting, measuring, and basic Excel are required).
• Measurement & Print Reading: Ability to accurately use tape measures, weigh scales, and read/interpret manufacturing drawings, prints, or schematics.
• Ability to operate motorized material-handling equipment safely.
• High attention to detail, accuracy, and strong organizational and time management skills.
• Self-motivated with the ability to follow directions and work with limited supervision.
• Strong work ethic, dependability, and safety awareness.
• Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods in a warehouse/manufacturing environment.
Ability to bend, stoop, reach, climb, and perform constant pushing, pulling, bending, and stooping.
Ability to move and lift up to 35 lbs.
Preferred Qualifications
• Previous experience in warehouse, manufacturing, inventory control, or materials management environments.
• Prior experience operating forklifts or powered industrial trucks.
• Experience conducting physical inventory or cycle counts.
• Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills.
• Familiarity with ERP systems, inventory management software, or warehouse control systems.
Education and Experience
• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
