Temporary Unarmed Security Officer

Location: Iowa City

Pay: $16.50/hour

Job Type: Temporary / Part-Time

Assignment Dates

Duration: Assignment may be extended based on client needs.

Monday-Friday: 3rd shift coverage needed.

Labor Day: 1st, 2nd, and 3rd shift coverage needed.

Labor Day Pay: 1.5x regular hourly rate for hours worked on Labor Day.

PPE & Uniform: Required PPE will be provided. Employees are responsible for providing their own steel-toe boots and black pants.

Job Description

We are seeking professional and dependable Unarmed Security Officers to provide security services at an assigned client location. This position focuses on observing and reporting, maintaining a safe and secure environment, and delivering excellent customer service in a fast-paced setting.

Primary Duties

• Monitor activity and identify/report suspicious behavior, security threats, hazards, or emergencies.
• Conduct interior and exterior walking patrols.
• Perform access control, monitoring, customer service, and other site-specific duties.
• Write clear, detailed, and accurate incident reports and Daily Activity Reports (DARs).
• Enforce site rules, policies, procedures, and Post Orders.
• Communicate with site supervision and management as required.
• Respond appropriately to incidents in accordance with company Use of Force policies.
• Maintain a professional appearance, attendance, and conduct.
• Participate in required training and orientation.
• Perform additional security or customer service functions as directed.

Minimum Qualifications

• Excellent customer service skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• Willingness to obtain an Iowa State Guard Card.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to accurately document activities and incidents.
• Exceptional attention to detail.
• Ability to remain calm and professional during emergencies.
• Ability to monitor and secure interior and exterior premises.
• Professional appearance and attitude at all times.
