The Fayetteville State University Department of Police and Public Safety is responsible for maintaining a safe learning and working environment for our Students, Staff, Faculty, and visitors.

Primary Purpose of the Position:

The Police and Public Safety Accreditation Assistant performs complex administrative, analytical, and professional assistance work to ensure the Fayetteville State University Police Department is compliant with the North Carolina Law Enforcement Accreditation Program (NCLEA); will perform organizational activities required to achieve and maintain law enforcement accreditation and related work as required. Work is performed under the general direction of the agency's Accreditation Manager. Reporting: Prepare statistical analysis, strategic plans and comprehensive compliance reports. Regularly reports to the accreditation manager on accreditation compliance.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

• Bachelor's Degree required.
• Proficient with Microsoft Work/Excel and Data collection.

Knowledge skills and abilities:

• Ability to plan, direct, and prioritize a variety of projects and multiple tasks in an effective and timely manner; organize own work, set priorities, meet critical timelines, and make decisions independently and use a computer and required specialized software for extended periods of time to perform the essential functions of the position.
• Policy Development: Assist with the development of policies and procedures. Research, draft and update departmental policies/procedures to align with accrediting body standards, judicial rulings, and legislative mandates. Maintain a standard format for reviewing policies and revising regularly.
• Compliance Management: Collect, organize and submit proofs of compliance. Assist with on-site inspections of compliance.
• Assessments: Prepare the agency for on-site/initial assessment, mock audits and assessor interviews. Performs complex administrative and professional assistance in planning, coordinating, and managing the implementation, maintenance, and adherence to the police department's NCLEA accreditation program.
• Training & Coordination: Train staff in maintaining all files for compliance with the accreditation process. Conduct employee orientation training regarding the accreditation process. Educate department personnel on new or modified policies. Conduct employee orientation training regarding the accreditation process.

Preferred Qualifications:

Previous Experience with NC Accreditation Standards or previous work as an Accreditation Manager.
