Description

This is a critical-fill, temporary part-time position scheduled to work up to 25 hours per week. This position is being filled to provide temporary staffing coverage. The assignment is limited in duration and is not a permanent position. Continued employment beyond the temporary assignment is not guaranteed.

The Part-Time Assistant Cashier performs a variety of cashiering and accounts receivable support functions, including processing and maintaining financial transactions and records using Datatel/Colleague, Doc-E-Scan, and other applicable College systems.

The Part-Time Assistant Cashier works under the supervision of the Cashiering and Accounts Receivable Supervisor.

Examples of Duties

  • Receives, verifies, records and issues receipts for all College cash collections.
  • Distributes receipts, reports and various checks to appropriate recipients.
  • Performs a variety of customer service and clerical work requiring general knowledge of fee collection and cashiering activities while serving a diverse volume of students, staff, faculty and the public.
  • Assists in maintaining a variety of financial records related to fee collection.
  • Assists students with payments during campus registrations.
  • Assists students with account, payment plans and refund questions.
  • Assists Student Accounts Receivable Specialist (AR) with AR duties as needed and serves as AR back-up.
  • Maintains petty cash fund while processing petty cash receipts and reimbursements.
  • Revises a variety of forms and documents as requested.
  • Updates knowledge and skills through continuous training.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Typical Qualifications

Required:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Customer service experience.

Preferred:

  • An associates degree from a regionally accredited college.
  • One year of cashiering experience in a business office environment.

Knowledge of:

  • Accounting programs, word processing and spreadsheet software.

Skills:

  • Organizational skills with attention to detail and follow through.
  • Outstanding customer service skills, with proven ability to communicate effectively with tact and diplomacy.
